In July 2012, a helicopter-based crew photographed approximately 22 miles (35 km) of shoreline near Golovin, Alaska, from the Yuonglik River delta southeast to Portage Creek. During this flight 572 oblique aerial photographs were collected and spatially referenced using a Garmin Dakota 20 handheld GPS.

The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) uses an informal set of names for about 140 'volcanoes.' Some names refer to large, complex volcanic centers, while others indicate only a specific cone. This publication expands the list of 140 named volcanoes to include all volcanic vents where magma has reached the surface over the past 2.6 million years. This database of all known (published, or unpublished with permission) Quaternary volcanic vents was developed to better describe the nature and character of Quaternary volcanism in Alaska and specifically to aid in the discussion of spatial and temporal patterns of Alaska volcanism. This list is a preliminary starting point, and we hope that it is updated and expanded by...

The State of Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) and Division of Oil & Gas (DOG) are currently engaged in a multi-year study of the hydrocarbon potential of the Tertiary and Mesozoic strata in Cook Inlet basin. Modal analyses and routine core analyses were performed on Tertiary and Mesozoic siltstones and sandstones collected during the 2007-2010 field seasons from six geographic areas in upper and lower Cook Inlet. The reservoir quality of Cook Inlet sandstones varies widely depending on their mineralogy, geologic age, burial depth, and depositional environment. Tuxedni and Naknek sandstones have poor reservoir quality and are likely to be of equally poor quality down dip. West Foreland sandstones...

Aerial photographs of the coastline from Wales to Teller were collected on August 27, 2015 - August 28, 2015. The photographs were processed using Structure-from-Motion (SfM) photogrammetric techniques. Global Positioning System (GPS) checkpoints were collected via a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) survey conducted between August 15 and September 14, 2015. For the purposes of open access to elevation and orthoimagery datasets in coastal regions of Alaska, this collection is being released as a Raw Data File with an open end-user license. Orthoimages contain 4-band, 8-bit, unsigned raster data (red/green/blue/no data; file format-GeoTIFF; source-Fairbanks Fodar) with 20 cm GSD. No-data values are found...

This Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) Raw Data File presents 40Ar/39Ar age dating results for a volcanic whole-rock sample, selected minerals from various metamorphic rocks and igneous dikes, and white mica from both metamorphic- and hydrothermal-mineralization-related veins encountered on the southern Seward Peninsula, as well as select minerals from one plutonic rock from Cape Denbeigh, eastern Norton Sound, Alaska. Cooling ages on glaucophane, barroisite, amphibole, paragonite, and biotite from metamorphic rocks range from 84 Ma to 209 Ma. The cooling age of white mica in a possible fault zone is 144 Ma. Cooling ages on late-stage metamorphic minerals (winchite and white mica) from veins...

This publication presents lidar data collected over the community of Golovin, on the southern coast of the Seward Peninsula in western Alaska (fig. 1). The original data were collected on November 5, 2013, by Quantum Spatial. The complete, classified lidar dataset was purchased by the State of Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys in 2014 in support of coastal vulnerability mapping efforts. For the purposes of open access to lidar datasets in coastal regions of Alaska, this collection is being released as a Raw Data File with an open end-user license. The horizontal datum for this dataset is NAD83 (CORS96), the vertical datum is NAVD88, Geoid 09, and it is projected in UTM Zone 3 North. Units are in...
