This map layer includes refractory, abrasive, and other industrial minerals operations in the United States. The data represent commodities covered by the Minerals Information Team (MIT) of the U.S. Geological Survey, and the operations are those considered active in 2003 and surveyed by the MIT. This is a revised version of the June 2004 map layer.

This data set contains imagery from the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). The NAIP program is administered by USDA FSA and has been established to support two main FSA strategic goals centered on agricultural production. These are, increase stewardship of America's natural resources while enhancing the environment, and to ensure commodities are procured and distributed effectively and efficiently to increase food security. The NAIP program supports these goals by acquiring and providing ortho imagery that has been collected during the agricultural growing season in the U.S. The NAIP ortho imagery is tailored to meet FSA requirements and is a fundamental tool used to support FSA farm and conservation programs....
Re-analyses of sample pulps and bulk rejects from historic USBM rock and heavy-mineral-concentrate samples were conducted by the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) as part of the State of Alaska's Strategic and Critical Minerals Assessment project, which is designed to evaluate Alaska's potential for these resources. The objective of this resource assessment is to expand the state's geochemical database by obtaining and publishing modern, quantitative geochemical analyses for historic USBM samples, where available. Highlights of this re-analysis project include heavy mineral concentrates with up 7,220 ppm Sn, 5,870 ppm Cr, and 17,000 ppm Mn.

This paper describes the potential applications of renewable energy sources to replace fossil fuel combustion as the prime energy sources in various countries, and discusses problems associated with biomass combustion in boiler power systems. Here, the term biomass includes organic matter produced as a result of photosynthesis as well as municipal, industrial and animal waste material. Brief summaries of the basic concepts involved in the combustion of biomass fuels are presented. Renewable energy sources (RES) supply 14% of the total world energy demand. Mineral-resources personnel from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) carried out a helicopter-supported geological and geochemical resource assessment project in the Beaver, Bettles, Livengood, and Tanana quadrangles from June 23 through August 5, 2012. A pilot study using discriminant analysis on major oxide and minor element data from 67 chert samples in the Rampart area, southeastern Tanana and southwest Livengood Quadrangles, western Yukon-Tanana Upland, Alaska, generally indicates a unique geochemical signature for the cherts of a given unit.Chert samples from five known type locales were used as standards of comparison: 1)Livengood Dome Chert (Ordovician), 2)Amy Creek unit (Proterozoic to early Paleozoic), 3)Rampart Group (Mississippian to Triassic), 4)Troublesome Creek unit (Devonian), and 5)Permian-Triassic clastic unit (associated with the Triassic-dated gabbro). This raster depicts the percentage of lithological silicon dioxide (SiO2) content in surface or near surface geology. We derived these rasters by calculating the average percent SiO2 content for each map unit in combined surficial-bedrock geologic maps.
