Potential evapotranspiration (PET), and reference evapotranspiration (ETo) are estimated on an approximately 2-kilometer (approximately 0.019 degrees longitude and 0.018 degrees latitude) spatial grid and at a daily time-scale from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 for the entire State of Florida. PET and ETo were computed on the basis of solar radiation, meteorological data (min/max temperature, min/max relative humidity, and mean wind speed at 2-meter height), and shortwave blue-sky albedo data for 2020. Solar radiation was computed from Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) sensor data; blue-sky albedo was computed from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MODIS) MCD43A1 BRDF/Albedo...
To accurately estimate agricultural water use or to project future water demands, a detailed inventory of current irrigated crop acreage is needed at a high level of resolution. In many Florida counties this kind of detailed high-resolution inventory is not available. A detailed digital map and summary of irrigated acreage during the 2015 growing season was developed for 13 of the 15 counties that compose the Suwannee River Water Management District. The irrigated areas were delineated using land-use data, orthoimagery, water management district consumptive water-use permits, and digitized agricultural landuse maps developed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Statewide Agricultural...

Potential evapotranspiration (PET), and reference evapotranspiration (ETo) are estimated at an approximately 2-kilometer (approximately 0.019 degrees longitude and 0.018 degrees latitude) spatial grid and daily time-scale for the entire State of Florida. PET and ETo were computed on the basis of solar radiation, meteorological (minimum/maximum temperature, minimum/maximum relative humidity, and mean wind speed at 2-meter height), and shortwave blue-sky albedo data. Solar radiation was computed from Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) sensor data, blue-sky albedo was computed from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MODIS) MCD43A1 BRDF/Albedo data product. Two versions of the dataset...

Actual evapotranspiration (ETa) rates from the Operational Simplified Surface Energy Balance (SSEBop) method, before and after bias corrections (Sepúlveda, 2021), are presented for basins located wholly or partially within the Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) and parts of Georgia. The SSEBop annual rates are provided at about a one square-kilometer scale from 2000 to 2017. Annual ETa rates calculated from the application of the water-balance method (wbETa) to 6 basins in the SRWMD and annual land-use ETa (luETa) rates calculated from monthly average crop coefficient ratios are also provided in this data set. A GIS shapefile provides land-use type and annual ETa rate for each year of record. Data...

Florida’s water resources have been managed by five water management districts since 1972. These five regional water management districts are the Northwest Florida, St Johns River, South Florida, Southwest Florida, and the Suwannee River. In 2015, the Southwest Florida Water Management District accounted for the largest amount of saline water withdrawn (5,135 Mgal/d) and the South Florida Water Management District accounted for the largest amount of fresh water withdrawn (2,792 Mgal/d). The South Florida Water Management District accounted for the largest amount of water withdrawn for public supply (1,118 Mgal/d), agricultural irrigation (1,380 Mgal/d), and recreation-landscape irrigation (263 Mgal/d), while the...
