Typed information accompanying slide: Five camp members decided to hike across the ice island to the high spot which could be seen from camp. The day wa sunny when they started on the two to three mile walk. Everyone wore hip boots. Small lakes dotted the path. June 1969. Similar to C-29, C-30, C-31. Typed information accompanying negative: The USGS living trailer: The trailer had bunk beds at one end, with space for four residents. The other end contained a small darkroom. It was a comfortable place to live. The space equipment cannister is on the floor in the foreground of the picture. After the probe was lost, I had hopes of assembling a complete package of equipment and resuming the casts. There was a spare probe and equipment cannister, but I could not locate a recording device sensitive enough to record thermistor readings. This attempt to reconstruct the assembly lasted approximately two weeks before I realized that it would not be possible with the equipment on T-3. In retrospect, if I had made a radio...
