TEM_50K contains Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) polygons with key and amalgamated (concatenated) attributes derived from the RISC (Resource Inventory Standards Committee) standard attributes completed at a scale of 1:50,000 or smaller (i.e. 1:100,000). TEM divides the landscape into units according to a variety of ecological features including climate, physiography, surficial material, bedrock geology, soils and vegetation. TEM methods include manual air photo interpretation supported by selective field checking. This layer is derived from the STE_TEI_ATTRIBUTE_POLYS_SP layer by filtering on the PROJECT_TYPE and PROJECT_MAP_SCALE attributes. Transient electromagnetic (TEM) soundings were made in the San Luis Valley, Colorado, to map the location of a blue clay unit as well as to investigate the presence of suspected faults. A total of 147 soundings were made near and in Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, and an additional 6 soundings were made near Hansen Bluff on the eastern edge of the Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge. The blue clay is a significant hydrologic feature in the area that separates an unconfined surface aquifer from a deeper confined aquifer. On June 5, 2015, transient electromagnetic (TEM) data were acquired on the baseball field at the East Falmouth, Massachusetts Elementary School approximately 30 m north the well MA-FWS-750. Transient electromagnetic induction (TEM) surveys provide resistivity soundings of the subsurface, which can be related to lithology and hydrogeology. Electrical current is cycled through a wire placed on the land surface in a transmitter loop (Tx), which in turn produces a static magnetic field. PEM_20K contains 1:20,000 PEM polygons with key and amalgamated (concatenated) attributes derived from the Resource Inventory Standards Committee (RISC) standard attributes. PEM divides the landscape into units according to a variety of ecological features including climate, physiography, surficial material, bedrock geology, soils and vegetation. PEM uses a modeling approach to ecosystem mapping, whereby existing knowledge of ecosystem attributes and relationships are used to predict ecosystem representation in the landscape. Terrain Inventory Mapping (TIM) contains polygons with key and amalgamated (concatenated) attributes derived from the RISC (Resource Inventory Standards Committee) standard attributes. TIM is multi-purpose and divides the landscape into unit according to surficial material, surface expression and geomorphological process using the Terrain Classification System for British Columbia. Most of the inventory mapping was completed in the 1970's and 1980's on 1:50 000 scale base maps using air photo interpretation with selective field checking, and manual transfer and drafting of paper maps. Ground-based transient electromagnetic (TEM) data were acquired by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) at 16 locations of California’s southwestern San Joaquin Valley and Central Coast regions to define the electrical resistivity structure of hydrogeologic materials. Data were acquired using the ABEM WalkTEM system (Guideline Geo Ab, Sundbyberg, Sweden). TEM data were processed and numerically inverted to derive one-dimensional resistivity structure using SPIA (Aarhus Geosoftware, Aarhus, Denmark). Freshwater mussels of the order Unionida are among the most endangered animal groups globally, but the causes of population declines are often enigmatic with little known about the role of disease. In 2018, we collected wild adult pheasantshell (Actinonaias pectorosa) and mucket (Actinonaias ligamentina) during an epidemiologic survey investigating an ongoing mussel mass mortality event in the Clinch River, USA. Histopathology and transmission electron microscopy showed a novel microsporidian parasite primarily infecting the ovary of pheasantshell. The Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) Project contains several geologic units which act as important aquifers. We collected several sets of time-domain electromagnetic (TEM) data consisting of two higher-density surveys and six regional-scale transects. The higher density surveys were collected to compare and contrast to other geophysical data not included in this data release, such as airborne electromagnetic, magnetic resonance sounding, and towed time-domain electromagnetic surveys .
