In general, ChesMMAP is fishery-independent monitoring survey that uses a large-mesh bottom trawl to sample late juvenile-to-adult fishes in the mainstem of Chesapeake Bay. This program currently provides data on relative abundance, length, weight, sex ratio, maturity, age, and trophic interactions for several important fish species that inhabit the bay seasonally.

There were five objects for compiling these data: 1) to conduct a systematic inventory of diamond-backed terrapins (Malaclemys terrapin) using headcount surveys on four National Wildlife Refuges (Harris Neck, Blackbeard Island, Wassaw, and Wolf Island) that are a part of the greater Savannah Coastal Refuges Complex in southeast Georgia, USA; 2) to use occupancy modeling to determine detection probability and distribution of diamondback terrapins; 3) to perform risk assessments of these terrapin populations in relation to crabbing pressure; 4) to generate maps with associated GIS files of terrapin relative densities related to crabbing pressure; and 5) to provide scientific information that will allow for effective...

NEAMAP stands for NorthEast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program. NEAMAP was developed to meet the needs of fisheries management and stock assessment activities in the northeastern United States. NEAMAP began in 2006 with a fall pilot survey and in 2008 began conducting both a spring and fall survey. NEAMAP samples from Cape Cod, MA south to Cape Hatteras, NC and targets both juvenile and adult fishes. NEAMAP is an integrated, cooperative state/federal data collection program. Its mission is to facilitate the collection and dissemination of fishery-independent information obtained in the Northeast for use by state and federal fisheries management agencies, the fishing industry (commercial and recreational),...

Northern Diamondback Terrapin Probability of Occurrence (POC) Model for MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, DE, MD, and VA. Warmer colors represent greater values and therefore, a higher probability of terrapins occurring in that area. The POC was developed by Karen Leu and Brooke Maslo (Rutgers University) and is based on documented occurrence between the years 2000-2012 as well as several environmental variables (see full report by S. Egger, 2016). The POC figure is the raw Maxent output. It contains the predicted probability of occurrence on a 0 - 1 scale, with 0.7722 being the highest possible value. Thresholds of 0.5, 0.6, and 0.3188 are shown. The latter value is the 10th percentile training presence logistic threshold, which...
