The Critical Minerals in Archived Mine Samples Database (CMDB) contains chemistry and geologic information for historic ore and ore-related rock samples from mineral deposits in the United States. In addition, the database contains samples from archetypal deposits from 27 other countries in North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Europe. Cassiterite (SnO2), a main ore mineral in tin deposits, was collected by multiple Russian geologists or obtained from museum collections in both the USA and Russia and dated at the U.S. Geological Survey. The dated samples represent four different mining districts spanning the entire country from the village of Pitkäranta in the west (31° E Longitude) to the Merekskoe Deposit in the Russian Far East (134°E Longitude). In 2016, with National Park Service support, several previously undated plutons were sampled in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve along the west side of Glacier Bay for age determinations. Geochronologic analyses were conducted to determine the ages of the plutonic rocks in the Glacier Bay area. Five samples were collected by Frederic Wilson (USGS Alaska Science Center), from Dundas Bay and Geikie Inlet, and dated by laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry U-Pb methods. The dates obtained ranged from approximately 112-118 Ma, indicating that these samples are younger than the Saint Elias plutonic suite (ca. 160 Ma-130Ma), which runs along the same trend as the sampled rocks to the south.

Emmons-Redwell deposit), located approximately 5.6 km (3.5 mi) northwest of Crested Butte, Colorado. The Mt. This data release provides digital flight-line and gridded data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the region surrounding the Wet Mountains of southern Colorado, including parts of Custer and Fremont Counties. Re-analyses of sample pulps and bulk rejects from historic USBM rock and heavy-mineral-concentrate samples were conducted by the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) as part of the State of Alaska's Strategic and Critical Minerals Assessment project, which is designed to evaluate Alaska's potential for these resources. The objective of this resource assessment is to expand the state's geochemical database by obtaining and publishing modern, quantitative geochemical analyses for historic USBM samples, where available. Highlights of this re-analysis project include heavy mineral concentrates with up 7,220 ppm Sn, 5,870 ppm Cr, and 17,000 ppm Mn.
