This dataset consists of 127 wideband and 21 long-period magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected from 2016-2019 across parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Illinois, and Kentucky. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) acquired these data as part of regional investigations into the geologic and tectonic framework of the area and to support mineral resource and geologic hazard investigations. These data have been used to generate a 3D regional conductivity model of the area. Files included in this publication include measured electric- and magnetic-field time series as well as estimated impedance and vertical-magnetic field transfer functions. The data included here are for MT station rfr201 in the Reelfoot Rift survey...

The Southern San Andreas fault (SSAF) poses one of the largest seismic risks in California. However, structural properties around Coachella Valley remain enigmatic. In 2019, we collected magnetotelluric soundings (MT) to help inform depth-dependent fault zone geometry, fluid content and porosity. This project was led by the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at the University of California San Diego in partnership with U.S. Geological Survey and funded in large part by the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC). The MT data were collected using Zonge International 32-bit ZEN data loggers with ANT-4 magnetic induction coils and Borin Ag-AgCl electrodes with 50 m dipoles. The ZEN was programmed to...
This dataset includes the magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in 2007 in and near the San Luis Valley, Colorado. The U.S. Geological Survey conducted a series of multidisciplinary studies, including MT surveys, in the San Luis Valley to improve understanding of the hydrogeology of the Santa Fe Group and the nature of the sedimentary deposits comprising the principal groundwater aquifers of the Rio Grande rift. The shallow unconfined and the deeper confined Santa Fe Group aquifers in the San Luis Basin are the main sources of municipal water for the region. The population of the San Luis Valley region is growing rapidly and water shortfalls could have serious consequences. Future growth and land management...

This dataset includes the magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in 1989 across the Idaho Batholith, Payette National Forest, Idaho, by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The primary focus is on geologic elements that relate to the Late Cretaceous Idaho batholith geometry and the development of the Yellow Pine mining district and Stibnite mining area. Twenty MT soundings along one 110-km long profile were acquired during the time period of July 19-27, 1989. This study was funded by the U.S. Geological Survey's Mineral Resources Program in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service.

This dataset consists of 24 magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2017 in Gabbs Valley, Nevada. The U.S. Geological Survey acquired these data as part of Phase 2 of the Nevada Play Fairway Analysis Project led by the University of Nevada at Reno and funded by the Department of Energy (grant number DE-EE0006731) with support from the U.S. Geological Survey's Energy Program.
This dataset consists of 102 magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2012-2014 in the Rio Grande Rift and southern Rocky Mountains. This dataset includes the magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in 2003 along a north-south profile west of Tooele, Utah. It is important to know whether major mining districts in the Northern Nevada Gold Province are underlain by rocks of the Archean Wyoming craton, which are known to contain orogenic gold deposits, or by accreted rocks of the Paleoproterozoic Mojave province. It is also important to know the location and orientation of the Archean/Proterozoic suture zone between these provinces as well as major basement structures within these terranes because they may influence subsequent patterns of sedimentation, deformation, magmatism, and hydrothermal activity. This study was funded by the U.S. Geological...
