Polished specimen of diorite porphyry from roof contact on the Pistol Ridge laccolith, the edge of scale (i.e. about 1/8 inch above middle bottom) marks the contact. The phenocrysts are crushed, rotated, and dragged linearly in a zone about 1 inch wide at the contact. Two inches from the contact the porphyry has the same texture and structure as i the center of the laccolith. Garfield County, Utah. 1939.
