This dataset contains a compilation of concentrations of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in groundwater and surface water sampled at the former Naval Air Warfare Center, West Trenton, New Jersey. Measured VOCs include trichloroethene (TCE), cis- 1,2-dichloroethene (cisDCE), and vinyl chloride (VC). Semi-volatile organic compound 1,4-dioxane is also included. Measured PFAS include perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS), perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS), perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA), perfluoroheptanoic acid (PFHpA), perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA), perfluoroundecanoic...
These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This vector data set delineates the approximate boundary of the Eagle River watershed valley-fill aquifer (ERWVFA). This data set was developed by a cooperative project between the U.S. Geological Survey, Eagle County, the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District, the Town of Eagle, the Town of Gypsum, and the Upper Eagle Regional Water Authority. This project was designed to evaluate potential land-development effects on groundwater...

This raster data set delineates the predicted probability of elevated nitrate concentrations in groundwater in the Eagle River watershed valley-fill aquifer, Eagle County, North-Central Colorado, 2006-2007. This data set was developed by a cooperative project between the U.S. Geological Survey, Eagle County, the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District, the Town of Eagle, the Town of Gypsum, and the Upper Eagle Regional Water Authority....

This data set is a subset of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Envirofacts point data set which includes facilities included in the the Toxic Release Inventory. Information on total pounds of volatile organic compounds released in 1995 (from USEPA's Toxic Release Inventory CD-ROM) has been included.

Mountain Creek Lake is a reservoir in north Texas 8 miles southwest of Dallas, Texas where historical contamination by polychlorinated biphenyl compounds (PCBs) and other organic contaminants has been reported. There was a need to reassess concentrations of contaminates of organic and inorganic compounds in the reservoir. In cooperation with the City of Dallas, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) sampled Mountain Creek Lake and two downstream stream sites over two sampling events. The study area consisted of seven sites on Mountain Creek Lake, one site on the Trinity River, and one site on Mountain Creek. Water-column and bed-sediment samples were collected at each site in June and August of 2019. Water-quality field...

This raster data set delineates the predicted probability of unmixed young groundwater (defined using chlorofluorocarbon-11 concentrations and tritium activities) in groundwater in the Eagle River watershed valley-fill aquifer, Eagle County, North-Central Colorado, 2006-2007. This data set was developed by a cooperative project between the U.S. Geological Survey, Eagle County, the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District, the Town...
![]() A three-dimensional steady-state groundwater flow model is coupled with the particle-tracking program, MODPATH, to assess the fate and transport of volatile organic compound plumes within the Magothy and upper glacial aquifers in southeastern Nassau County, NY. Knowledge of groundwater-flow patterns and rates is essential for effective management of groundwater resources and for mitigation of potential adverse effects of the plumes on drinking-water supplies and on ecosystems. Eight hypothetical remedial scenarios were evaluated to hydraulically contain a VOC plume. Specifically, the remedial scenarios were optimized to achieve full containment by altering the pumping well locations, adjusting the pumping rates,...
