The point data file ("Soda Fire Point and Pasture Data (2016).Point Data.csv") includes 2016 vegetative cover values of exotic annual grass and perennial grass measured within three different types of plots for 75 pastures in the Soda Fire, which burned in 2015: 6m² plot using a grid-point intercept photo software, SamplePoint (Booth et al. 2006), 1m² quadrat using an unguided rapid ocular estimate in the field, 531m² circular plot using an unguided rapid ocular estimate in the field. Smaller plots were nested within larger plots. The pasture data file ("Soda Fire Point and Pasture Data (2016).Pasture Data.csv") includes pasture level metrics of area, elevation, precipitation, slope, heatload, soils, and herbicide...

This theme is polygon data that depicts two types of development for the state of Wyoming. The first is existing development and the second are habitats where there is a high likelihood that development will occur in the near future. We considered development of oil, gas and coal bed methane, mining of minerals (trona, uranimum, coal, and bentonite), urban expansion. Other infrastructure activities such as roads, highways, fiberoptic lines, processing plants, pipelines, other facilities, and various combinations of development that were believed to impact sage-grouse were recorded. Information sources and assessment processes varied depending on data available and resource specialist participation for areas within...

This data release contains coastal wetland synthesis products for Massachusetts, developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management. Metrics for resiliency, including unvegetated to vegetated ratio (UVVR), marsh elevation, and tidal range are calculated for smaller units delineated from a digital elevation model, providing the spatial variability of physical factors that influence wetland health. The U.S. Geological Survey has been expanding national assessment of coastal change hazards and forecast products to coastal wetlands with the intent of providing Federal, State, and local managers with tools to estimate the vulnerability and ecosystem service potential of these wetlands....

Data includes satellite derived pre-fire functional group cover of annual and perennial herbaceous, shrubs, bareground and litter across four rangeland megafires in the Western US, as well as field estimated invasive annual grass measurements from the 2nd to 3rd years post-fire. Additional landscape and restoration treatment covariates hypothesized to influence post-fire invasive annual grass cover are included.

The circumboreal vegetation mapping (CBVM) project is an international collaboration among vegetation scientists to create a new vegetation map of the boreal region at a 1:7.5 million scale with a common legend and mapping protocol (Talbot and Meades 2011). The map is intended to portray potential natural vegetation, or the vegetation that would exist in the absence of human or natural disturbance, rather than existing vegetation that is commonly generated at larger scales. This report and map contributes to the CBVM effort by developing maps of bioclimatic zones, geographic sectors with similar floristic variability, and vegetation in boreal Alaska, Yukon, northwestern British Columbia, and a mountainous portion...

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) program, through its Long Term Resource Monitoring (LTRM) element, collected aerial imagery of the systemic Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS) during the summer of 2020. A Land Cover/Land Use (LCU) spatial database was developed based on the 2020 aerial imagery, which adds a fourth systemic-wide database to the existing 1989, 2000, and 2010/11 LCU databases. While a crosswalk was used to update the 1989 LCU database (originally developed using a different classification system), the 2000, 2010/11, and 2020 LCU databases share the same classification, making them directly comparable from a classification standpoint. Furthermore, protocols...

Delineates outbreaks of the two focal species referred to as Mountain Pine Bettle Covers the CCE and 50km into the surrounding area from 2000 to 2015. This layer is a compilation from multiple sources, Bruce spanworm polygons were removed from Alberta data. This dataset was developed by the Crown Managers Partnership, as part of a transboundary collaborative management initiative for the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, based on commonly identified management priorities that are relevant at the landscape scale. The CMP is collaborative group of land managers, scientists, and stakeholder in the CCE. This layer depicts the status, or degree of disturbance, to plant communities on the main Hawaiian Islands. To more precisely identify areas where native species may presently be found, a map was generated that considers the following three categories of habitat quality: High, areas dominated by native vegetation; Medium, areas dominated by nonnative vegetation; and Low, highly modified landscapes. The primary source for mapping these three categories is the HIGAP land-cover classification (Gon, 2006). The High category includes all HIGAP land-cover classes that are considered to be either native dominated or mixed native and nonnative in order to represent those areas that have substantial native-species composition....

We analyzed very-high-resolution imagery to assess status of Metrosideros polymorpha forests across an 83,603 hectare study area that experienced extensive canopy dieback in the 1970s on the eastern side of the island of Hawaii. Using GIS we generated 1170 virtual vegetation plots with a 100 m radius; 541 plots in areas mapped in 1977 with trees dead or mostly defoliated (dieback), and 629 plots in adjacent wet forest habitat, previously mapped as non-dieback condition. In each plot we estimated the percent of M. polymorpha trees dead or mostly defoliated, and percent of trees with healthy crowns. These results were combined with habitat data to produce a spatial model depicting probability of canopy dieback within...

Several previously published reports and geographic information system (GIS) data layers were used to code information on site attributes for each assessment plot using the spatial join tool in ArcMap. This information was used for an analysis of dieback and non-dieback habitat characteristics. The results of this analysis are presented in this table which depicts the probability of heavy to severe canopy dieback occurring at some time at a particular 30 x 30 m pixel location within the study area.
