This project used existing ShoreZone coastal imagery to map 719 km of shoreline in Bristol Bay, from Cape Constantine to Cape Newenham. This section of coastline is an extremely important herring spawning area and an important component of the Bristol Bay fisheries. Intertidal and nearshore vegetation, on which herring spawn, was catalogued as part of the mapping and, along with shore types, coastal substrate, and coastal biota, added to the state-wide ShoreZone dataset.

Grassland-shrubland prairie has been important to the livelihoods of generations of ranchers; to the hunting community because of prized game species; and to endangered species, such as the black-capped vireo, as habitat. In the past, the interests of ranchers, hunters, and endangered species have come into conflict because of increasing pressures on the prairie from land use conversion, new development, and habitat fragmentation. Greater collaboration in advancing mutual interests would greatly expand and improve Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative partners’ efforts to conserve the remaining prairie habitats of the southern Great Plains.

The online tool is a web-based tool allowing users to find relevant information for conservation planning and about BMP. The tool has two components, one for conservation planning by conservation organizations and one for implementation of BMP by landowners and land managers (described in the BMP section below). The conservation planning tool operates at the broad spatial scale of recovery regions and at a landscape scale, whereas the BMP are for a smaller spatial scale, particularly a specific property. This interactive map was designed to view known public-domain elevation datasets (LiDAR and InSAR) in Alaska. The map offers zoom and scroll options, and multiple base map layers. We provide an easy point and click interface to show data originators and, when available, a link to download the digital data. Users are also able to bookmark and share areas of interest. DGGS is actively developing a comprehensive repository of Alaska's public-domain elevation data. The application will be periodically updated to incorporate our complete collection.
