PRISM climate data for Wyoming. Data can be accessed through the Geospatial Data Gateway http://datagateway.nrcs.usda.gov/.
Land managers in the Great Basin are working to maintain or restore sagebrush ecosystems as climate change exacerbates existing threats. Web applications delivering climate change and climate impacts information have the potential to assist their efforts. Although many web applications containing climate information currently exist, few have been co-produced with land managers or have incorporated information specifically focused on land managers’ needs. Through surveys and interviews, we gathered detailed feedback from federal, state, and tribal sagebrush land managers in the Great Basin on climate information web applications targeting land management. We found that a) managers are searching for weather and climate...

This dataset contains 4222 point locations corresponding to 136 weather station locations in or bordering Wyoming. Each of the 136 weather stations includes 31 points, with the same latitude longitude, for different years (1970-2000). Each point contains attributes for total precipitation in inches for each month, as well as an annual precipitation for the year. The data were obtained from the Western Regional Climatic data website.

The dataset includes a table in comma delimited format of daily evapotranspiration (ET) from 6/14/2018 to 12/31/2020 from an ET station within the Blue Cypress Marsh Conservation Area, within Indian River County, Florida. Evapotranspiration was estimated using eddy-covariance methods and missing records were gap-filled with a version of the Turc equation (Trajkovic and Kolakovic, 2009) that was regressed against observed values of eddy-covariance ET. The Turc equation performed exceptionally well (r-squared value of 0.94) for reproducing observed daily ET rates. Daily ET values estimated with the Turc equation are identified by a column with a "T" value indicator. Data processing methods were similar to methods...

The dataset consists of a table in Excel format of daily evapotranspiration (ET) from 12/1/2015 to 6/13/2018 at ET station within the Blue Cypress Marsh Conservation Area near Vero Beach, Florida. Evapotranspiration was estimated using eddy-covariance methods. Data processing followed methods outlined by Shoemaker and others (2011). Ancillary data includes net radiation, latent heat, sensible heat, relative humidity, air temperature, water depth above land surface or depth to water below land surface (-), and Bowen's ratio. The site location is 27°41'46", -80°42'43". Released data include mean daily latent heat (LE, in watts per square meter), available energy (Ae, in watts per square meter), and sensible heat (H,...
Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) has been developing web applications to centralize and serve credible and usable information that allows natural resource managers, as well as the general public, to better understand the challenges posed by on-going environmental change. In particular CBI has designed a series of climate consoles that provide natural resource managers the most recent 5th Climate Model Intercomparison Program (CMIP5) climate projections, landscape intactness, and soil sensitivity for a series of reporting units over the western United States. The publically available web sites were refined based on feedback from a variety of users. In this paper, we describe each of the tools developed as open-source...

Meteorology at the land surface affects many processes in the terrestrial biogeochemical system. Measurements of near-surface meteorological conditions are made at many locations, but we are often faced with having to perform ecosystem process simulations in areas where no meteorological measurements have been taken. In some cases it is possible to install new instrumentation for a particular study, but there are many situations where this is not a feasible solution. These problems are particularly important for simulations over large regions, where the number of simulation points is likely to be far greater than the number of observation stations. Daymet is a model that generates daily surfaces of temperature,...
The goal of this project is to create critically needed coastal fog datasets. Anticipated products from the collaboration between on-the-ground natural resource managers and a multidisciplinary coalition of physical scientists are: 1) a compilation of existing fog related data from multiple sources: satellite (AVHRR, GOES, Modis, Landsat), NOAA buoy , and airport and meteorological stations, 2) USGS Open File report documenting the results of a multiday working session with climatologists, remote sensing specialists, fog modelers, statisticians, and natural resource managers, convened to review the data, examine and assess the correlations between data streams and models, specify initial parameters to be extracted...

The Water Resources Data System is a clearinghouse of hydrological and climatological data for the State of Wyoming. The Climatology Data consists of queryable roadway weather information through the Wyoming DOT; tables and graphs of monthly precipitation normals and totals by water year; and maps and graphs of percent snow equivelants from the NRCS.

In October 2019, as part of our collaboration with a project focused on nexus of climate and viticulture in Arizona, we helped hold two workshops focused on reviewing the 2018-2019 wine grape growing season in Arizona. Workshops were held in two of the main viticulture regions in Arizona: the Verde Valley and Cochise County. Twenty-four people attended the Yavapai County workshop; 9 vineyards were represented but a number of workshop participants were students not representing a vineyard. Those participants did not contribute to the climate and weather data. Six people representing 6 vineyards participated in the Cochise County workshop. At each workshop, growers were asked to list various climate- and weather-related...
