The data presented here contain quasi-event hydrologic response characteristics for quickflow response intervals (QRIs) calculated at 57 USGS GAGES-II reference watersheds in the western US. Each row in the attached csv contains characteristics for an individual QRI at one site. QRI characteristics include duration, antecedent flow, input, input rate,peak flow, potential evapotranspiration, quickflow, and quickflow/input (effectively a runoff ratio). This data release supports the publication "Sub-annual streamflow responses to rainfall and snowmelt inputs in snow-dominated watersheds of the western U.S." in Water Resources Research.

Map of nesting habitat selection scores predicted from a resource selection function (RSF) developed from sage-grouse nest locations. Nest site selection was modeled using a generalized linear mixed model of used and random locations in a Bayesian modeling environment, and the midpoint of coefficient conditional posterior distributions were used for prediction. Continuous values were reclassified and ranked using a percent isopleth approach with respect to observed nest locations.

The National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM) utilizes a fault sections database (FSD) throughout the model workflow. Working towards a 2023 NSHM release, the NSHM23 FSD encompasses a major update with the addition of new fault sections, as well as the revision of existing fault sections from prior FSD (2014). The additions and revisions were largely based on the U.S. Geological Survey's Quaternary Faults and Folds Database (QFFD). The nshm-faultmaps.ipynb Jupyter Notebook (Python code) provides users with a visual, side-by-side comparison of fault representations from the QFFD, NSHM14 FSD and NSHM23 FSD. Sage-grouse continue to use habitat following wildfire, so prioritizing high selection, low survival areas can help ameliorate potential post-wildfire ecological traps. This shapefile represents areas within the burn scars at the Virginia Mountains field site which are high selection and high or low survival which have been deemed to be 'priority' targets for post-fire restoration efforts. The 'burn scar' used in this project is an amalgamation of multiple fires which occurred within the field site during the summers of 2016 and 2017.

This coverage provides an estimate of the highest annual average wind resource potential in the Greater Sage-grouse Conservation Assessment (CA) area. Wind power was measured at 50 meters above ground level. The vector data used to create this file was originally derived from a raster dataset (200m resolution) by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The original data provides seven "Wind Power Classes" to distinguish wind power density (W/m2). Only the highest wind power classes that fell within the CA boundary are represented in this dataset.

We employed decision-tree mapping models in two formats to establish a time series (2001 - 2015) of sagebrush condition class in the western United States. The formats were predictive and descriptive, and each model produced distinct spatially explicit datasets. The predictive model mapped the probability of sagebrush recovery, tipping point (environmental degradation), or stable classes. The descriptive model mapped rules that were defined by environmental thresholds. The thresholds were defined by the interaction between the independent variables and the dependent variable. A complete set of wells associated with oil, natural gas, and coal bed natural gas development in the western states as of August 31, 2005. This is a static dataset even though liquid energy development is a highly dynamic endeavor. Because these well location datasets are generally housed and managed by various state-based agencies (typically the state Oil and Gas Conservation Commissions) a uniform, spatially precise coverage for the has not been available to date. We applied spatially-explicit models to a spatiotemporally robust dataset of greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) nest locations and fates across wildfire-altered sagebrush ecosystems of the Great Basin ecoregion, western USA. Using sage-grouse as a focal species, we quantified scale-dependent factors driving nest site selection and nest survival across broad spatial scales in order to identify wildfire impacts and other environmental influences on variation in nesting productivity across a broad ecoregion spanning mesic and xeric shrub communities.
