WTDeerWinterRange is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing winter range for White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) in Colorado. Winter Range is defined as that part of the range of a population where 90% of the individuals are located during the average five winters out of ten from the first heavy snowfall to spring green-up, or during a site-specific period of winter as defined for each GMU. This information was derived from field personnel. A variety of data capture techniques were used including drawing on mylar overlays at 1:50,000 scale USGS county mapsheets and implementation of the SmartBoard Interactive Whiteboard using stand-up, real-time digitizing at various scales (Cowardin, M., M. Flenner. March 2003....
WTDeerHighwayCrossing is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing those areas where white-tailed deer movements traditionally cross roads or railroads, presenting potential conflicts between white-tailed deer and motorists/trains. (More than six highway mortalities per mile of highway or railroad per year is a guide that may be used to indicate highway crossings). Flenner. March 2003. Maximizing Mapping Resources. GeoWorld...
This coverage does not include white-tailed deer winter ranges within Tribal lands/Indian Reservations or National Park Service lands. Winter range polygons represent areas occupied by white-tailed deer from roughly November 15 to March 1. Not all polygons in this coverage represent winter range. The polygon attribute to select winter range for white-tailed deer is USE. NOTE: white-tailed deer winter ranges east of the continental divide vary greatly from year to year and therefore are not always delineated in the coverage...this does not necessarily mean there is no winter range in a given area.
WTDeerOverallRange is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing Overall Range for White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) in Colorado. Overall Range is defined as the area which encompasses all known seasonal activity areas within the observed range of a population of white-tailed deer. Flenner. March 2003. Maximizing Mapping Resources. GeoWorld 16(3):32-35). Dataset was acquired from a third party distributor who...
WTDeerConcentrationArea is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing concentration areas for White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) in Colorado. Concentration Areas are defined as corridors of riparian habitat along river or stream courses that support higher populations of white-tailed deer, serve as travel corridors, and are considered critical habitat for white-tailed deer. Flenner. March 2003. Maximizing Mapping...
