This feature class was created to assemble oil and gas well information for a comprehensive inventory of energy data pertinent to the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative decision-making process. These data are available as online resources for scientists, resource managers engaged in the Initiative, and other researchers. The GIS data and map services created for this study are available for interactive analysis and/or download at the Energy Geoscience Center WLCI website.

USGS staff created this data (July 2008) from existing NHD - High resolution data and Level 5 and 6 HUC data created by WyGISC. Several data gaps exist in the NHD Level 5 and 6 HUC data. WyGISC data was used to supplement the NHD data in these cases. Topology enforced HUC dataset. This file contains Hydrologic Unit boundaries and codes for the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The data is a seamless National representation of Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) boundaries at HUC2 to HUC12 levels compiled from U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) and U.S. Department of Agricultural (USDA) National Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) sources.

This project represents the data used in “Influences of potential oil and gas development and future climate on sage-grouse declines and redistribution.” The data sets describe greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) population change, summarized in different boundaries within the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI; southwestern Wyoming). Identifying ecologically relevant reference sites is important for evaluating ecosystem recovery, but the relevance of references that are temporally static is unclear in the context of vast landscapes with disturbance and environmental contexts varying over space and time. This question is pertinent for landscapes dominated by sagebrush (Artemisia spp.) which face a suite of threats from disturbance and development but also have lengthy recovery times. This is the probability of occurrence model output for deciduous vegetation cover associated with the project: “Status and Trends of Deciduous Communities in the Bighorn Mountains”. The aim of the study is to assess the current trends of deciduous communities in the Bighorn National Forest in north-central Wyoming. The data here represents phase I of the project, completed in FY2017.
