Album caption: El Capitan, and the valley bottom. The 3,000-foot cliff is the highest in Yosemite Valley and one of the highest in the world. The salient is composed throughout of unfractured, massive granite. The gray blotches on the wall at the right are due to masses of diorite that invaded the granite.
