Album caption: El Castillo-Templo de Kukulkan. The Group of the Thousand Columns is in the wooded area behind El Castillo. The Temple of the Warriors is in the area marked x. This structure was built by the Maya in about 900-1000 A.D. It is the most prominent structure and the first to be seen on entering the Archeological Zone from Dzitas. S.G. Morely July 1923.

Album caption: This stela was found by S.G. Morley on March 6, 1923 in the niche in the stairway of El Caracol. There are 132 hieroglyphs carved on the front, both ends and the top and it is the longest text yet found at Chichen Itza. Probable date-about 1100 A.D. C.I.W. 1923.

Album caption: This excavation on the west end of Las Monjas by Augustus Le Plongeon, French explorer in about 1873 shows three additions to the original structure. The Governor of Yucatan, Miguel Canton, and General Eugenio Martinez, Chief of the Federal Forces in Yucatan, and their associates are standing above the excavation.
