In support of U.S. Geological Survey invasive carp research examining aggregations of invasive carp in the tail water of dams, water velocity measurements were made at cross sections in the Illinois River below Starved Rock Lock and Dam on June 16, 2021. A total of 16 cross sections were surveyed, with two transects per cross section. Water depth and crew safety limited the extent of the survey. The discharge in the Illinois River at Starved Rock Lock and Dam at the time of data collection was approximately 185.7 cubic meters per second. The data were processed in the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (VMT) v.4.09 (Parsons and others, 2013) to obtain a depth-averaged velocity field for each cross section from paired transects...
From May 2017 to November 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted bathymetric surveys of New York City's East of Hudson Reservoirs. Bathymetry data were collected at West Branch Reservoir during September 2017, October 2017, and October 2019. Depth data were collected primarily with a multibeam echosounder; additional bathymetry points were measured using an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). Quality assurance points were measured with a single-beam echosounder. Water surface elevations were established using real-time kinematic (RTK) and static global navigation satellite system (GNSS) surveys and submersible pressure transducers. Measured sound velocity profiles were used to correct echosounder depth...
This dataset includes vertical velocity profiles and river discharge at cross section of interest where velocity measurements were taken on the Arkansas River at Parkdale, Colorado. Each profile contains measurements at various depths at the y-axis, which is the vertical in the cross-sectional profile where the maximum velocity (umax) occurs. These measurements were taken using a FlowTracker, FlowTracker2 ® instrument (FlowTracker2, 2020) when wading was possible; if wading was not possible, measurements were taken from a boat using an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) under stationary bed conditions. Data are presented in a comma separated value (CSV) file.

On August 25, 2020, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted a bathymetry survey of a 550 meter long reach of the Black River near Great Bend, New York. The study reach began approximately 1,000 meters upstream from the State Route 26 bridge in Great Bend, New York. Depth data were collected primarily with a 1,200 kilohertz Teledyne RD Instruments RioPro acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) with position data from differential global navigation satellite system (GNSS) Hemisphere V102 DGPS antenna (any use of trade, firm, or product names is for descriptive purposes only and does not imply endorsement by the U.S. Government). Water surface elevations were established using real-time kinematic (RTK) GNSS surveys;...
From May 2017 to November 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted bathymetric surveys of New York City's East of Hudson Reservoirs. Bathymetry data were collected at East Branch Reservoir May 2018, June 2018, and October 2019. Measured sound velocity profiles were used to correct echosounder depth measurements...

Kootenai river hydraulic conditions were simulated using the iRIC FaSTMECH two-dimensional hydraulic flow model (Nelson, 2003). In addition to this study, FaSTMECH 2D flow models have been developed for numerous Kootenai River studies dating back to 2005. The methods used to develop, calibrate, and simulate FaSTMECH 2D flow models are described at length in multiple previous studies (Fosness and Dudunake, in press; Barton and others, 2005; Barton and others, 2007; Logan and others, 2011; McDonald and others, 2016; McDonald and Nelson, 2018; McDonald and Nelson, 2020). Model simulations were combined with white sturgeon telemetry data to explain fish positions with respect to selected depths and depth-averaged velocity.

From May 2017 to November 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted bathymetric surveys of New York City's East of Hudson Reservoirs. Bathymetry data were collected at Croton Falls Reservoir during August 2017, May 2018, and October 2019. Depth data were collected primarily with a multibeam echosounder; additional bathymetry points were measured using an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). Quality assurance points were measured with a single-beam echosounder. This dataset contains repeat survey data consisting of real-time kinematic (RTK) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) measurements of water surface elevation and channel bed topography made while wading at cross section 5 (xs5), which is adjacent to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgage at Arkansas River at Parkdale, Colorado (USGS 07094500), from March 19 to March 22, 2018. The RTK GNSS surveys were performed using a local base station associated with the stream gage and Trimble R8 ® and R10 ® receivers while wading the channel at xs5. The survey data were post-processed by performing a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Online Positioning User Service (OPUS) correction of the static observations...

Tidal cycle water velocities were measured at transects in the Bushy Park Reservoir using Teledyne Rio Grande 1200 kHz acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP). Five transects were measured on August 5, 2014 and November 5, 2014, and two transects were measured on March 26, 2015 and April 23, 2015. The data were collected every 30 minutes over a tidal cycle . The data were georeferenced with differential GPS receivers with submeter accuracy. Data were processed using the "Velocity Mapping Toolbox" (Parsons et al., 2013). Any data assigned a value of "-9999" are bad or missing data and should not be used for analysis. Parsons, D. Vertical velocities profiles were measured at 15-minute intervals at six locations in the Bushy Park Reservoir using self-contained Sontek Argonaunt XRs upward-facing acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCPs) with a frequency of either 1,500 or 3,000 kiloHertz (kHz)). The ADCPs were deployed between December 2013 and May 2015. Up to four sites were collected concurrently. Data were processed using ViewArgonaut, a software package developed by SonTek (http://www.sontek.com/softwaredetail.php?ViewArgonaut-Software-21) to compute the average velocity vector (magnitude and direction) for each time step (15-minute) at the location.
