The project will establish contact with interested parties in each tribe or first nation within the Crown of the Continent to collect information on all relevant activities and research regarding climate and adaptive management within each tribal nation. We will coordinate a meeting of all interested tribal contacts and coordinate tribal activities with other efforts in the Crown including the Crown Managers Partnership, the Crown of the Continent Conservation Initiative, and the Crown Roundtable Adaptive Management Initiative. Objectives:Establish a contact on climate adaptation management in each interested first nation/tribe or related organization in the Crown of the Continent.Develop a white paper that summarizes...

This project responds to an identified need to harness practitioners experience and outcomes of large-scale habitat restoration efforts in the sagebrush biome to inform future restoration treatments and adaptive management of ongoing projects. The project will capitalize on existing rangeland restoration project databases (e.g. the Land Treatment Digital Library [LTDL], Land Treatment Exploration Tool [LTET], and others currently being managed at local and state levels) at a time when both state and federal funding opportunities are enabling land managers to treat sagebrush ecosystem threats, particularly invasive annual grasses, at large landscape scales. We will implement a robust, yet practical monitoring plan...

The Invasion of native communities by cool-season introduced grasses, especially smooth brome and Kentucky bluegrass in upland prairies, reed canary grass in wetlands, is on one of the most important management issues on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service)-owned lands. Two adaptive management projects, the Native Prairie and Reed Canary Grass Adaptive Management Projects were funded by USGS to examine restoration efforts on NWRs and WMDs in USFWS Regions 3 and 6. This project will support the completion of two decision support tools that are essential to long-term resource management success.
