These data have been temporarily taken down. Please contact Benjamin J Drenth (bdrenth@usgs.gov) for more information. This publication provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution magnetic survey over an area of the west-central Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The survey was flown in 2008 by Aeroquest under contract to Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company using a fixed-wing aircraft with a magnetometer mounted in a tail stinger. The USGS has obtained this 66,074 line km subset of the survey dataset for public release. Data were collected along north-south flight lines spaced 100 meters apart with east-west tie lines flown every 1000 meters. The nominal terrain clearance was 40 meters, although greater terrain...

Airborne radiometric data are provided here as part of the data release "Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, Columbia, South Carolina and surrounds, 2020." This website includes the processed aeroradiometric data (gamma spectrometry for K, U and Th) provided in an ascii .csv file, spectral data in a binary netcdf file that can be read using the relevant Python libraries (see example included with this release), and a geoTIFF showing a ternary image of the K, Th, and U channels. The contractor report is available on the parent page. These data were collected as part of a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over Columbia, South Carolina and the surrounding region immediately northwest...

This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne radiometric survey over parts of northwestern Minnesota near the town of Mentor. The airborne survey was funded by the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative and was designed to meet complementary needs related to geologic mapping and characterization of mineral resource potential. A total of 40,139-line km of radiometric data were acquired over an irregular-shaped area of 9140 km2. Data were collected from a fixed-wing aircraft flown at mean terrain clearance of 120 meters (m) above topography along N-S flight lines spaced at 250 m intervals. Tie lines were flown in an E-W direction every 2500 m. Data were collected by EDCON-PRJ and...

New aeromagnetic compilations have been produced for the Lake Superior region. The compilations combine previously published aeromagnetic survey data and compilations available from the Minnesota Geological Survey, Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey, Ontario Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, Natural Resources Canada, and U.S. Geological Survey (see MagneticSurveys.pdf). Two compilations were produced which differ in their theoretical observation height. The compilation at 150 m height maintains anomaly shape over geologic features on land; whereas the compilation at 300 m height better maintains anomaly shape for sources observed over Lake Superior and would be preferred for modeling...

This data release provides access to a low-altitude, aeromagnetic survey of a part of central Washington, an area that includes the city of Wenatchee and the towns of Entiat, Chelan, and Leavenworth. The Wenatchee aeromagnetic survey extends westward from the Columbia Plateau to the Cascade Range, and covers a part of the Columbia River and Lake Chelan. The survey was conducted between October 17 and December 5, 2011, by Firefly Aviation Ltd., working under contract to the U.S. Geological Survey. Total magnetic field values were acquired using a fixed-wing aircraft flown at a target elevation of 150 m above terrain and along flight lines and tie lines spaced 400 m and 4000 m apart, respectively. Flight lines were...

This publication provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution magnetic survey over an area of northwest Arkansas. The airborne geophysical survey was jointly funded by the USGS National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program and the Earth Mapping Resource Initiative and was designed to meet the complimentary needs related to geologic mapping and mineral resource research. The survey covers an irregular area 225 by 110 kilometers over the transition between the Ouachita and Ozarks Plateau physiographic provinces and includes 67,614 line-kilometers of magnetic data. Data were collected from a fixed-wing aircraft flown at mean terrain clearance of 167 meters above topography along N-S flight lines spaced at...

Hydrothermally altered rocks, particularly if water saturated, can weaken stratovolcanoes, thereby increasing the potential for catastrophic sector collapses that can lead to far-traveled, destructive debris flows, which are the largest volcanic hazards for Mount Adams and Mount Baker. Evaluating the hazards associated with such alteration is difficult because much of the alteration is obscured by ice and its depth extent is unknown. Intense hydrothermal alteration significantly reduces the resistivity and magnetization of volcanic rock and therefore hydrothermally altered rocks are identified with helicopter electromagnetic and magnetic measurements at Mount Baker and Mount Adams. High resolution magnetic and electromagnetic...

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected by CGG Canada Services Ltd. in collaboration with the USGS for the City of Cedar Rapids in a 53-square-kilometer area of the Cedar River Basin to the west of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The survey was flown between May 4 and May 5, 2017 along 347 line kilometers. Electromagnetic data were acquired using RESOLVE frequency-domain helicopter-borne electromagnetic system. Magnetic data were collected with 1-Scintres Cesium Vapour (CS-3) magnetometer. Sensor elevation above ground was measured with Optech G-150 laser. The nominal elevation of the sensor was 30 m. This data release includes processed AEM and magnetic data and inverted resistivity depth sections.

This data release consists of 1,984 line-kilometers of airborne electromagnetic (AEM), magnetic data and radiometric data collected from October to November 2017 in the upper East River and surrounding watersheds in central Colorado. The U.S. Geological Survey contracted Geotech Ltd. to acquire these data as part of regional investigations into the geologic structure and hydrologic framework of the area. The AEM data have been inverted to produce a series of regional cross-sections that constrain the electrical properties of the subsurface to a depth of ~500m. Data were acquired using the VTEM ET time-domain helicopter-borne electromagnetic system along flight lines that cross important geological structures over...

The Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (“alluvial aquifer”) is one of the most extensively developed aquifers in the United States. The alluvial aquifer is present at the land surface in parts of southeastern Missouri, northeastern Louisiana, western Mississippi, western Tennessee and Kentucky near the Mississippi River, and throughout eastern Arkansas. Historical (1940–2006) and recent (2019–20) aquifer-test datasets were compiled to model transmissivity and hydraulic conductivity of the alluvial aquifer from recent (2018–19) airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey data. This data release contains the aquifer-test and geophysical data along with computer codes written in Matlab version R2014a syntax used to...
