This USGS data release is intended to provide a baselayer of information on likely stream crossings throughout the United States. The geopackage provides likely crossings of infrastructure and streams and provides observed information that helps validate modeled crossings and build knowledge about associated conditions through time (e.g. crossing type, crossing condition). Stream crossings were developed by intersecting the 2020 United States Census Bureau Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER) U.S. road lines with the National Hydrography Dataset High Resolution flowlines. The current version of this data release specifically focuses on road stream crossings (i.e. TIGER2020 Roads)...
These data were compiled to assess the recovery of vegetation on reclaimed oil and gas sites. Objective(s) of our study were to assess patterns in reclamation outcomes relative to 1) soil attributes, climate, and time since 39 reclamation and 2) plant and soil reference benchmarks. These data represent observations of vegetation and soil cover from 134 reclaimed oil and gas well pads and 583 AIM reference plots. These data were collected on lands impacted by oil and gas development on the Colorado Plateau as well as Arizona and New Mexico Plateau of New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. Data was collected from July- September of 2020 and May-September of 2021. These data were collected by Assessment Inventory and Monitoring...

These data were compiled for evaluating plant water use, or river-reach level evapotranspiration (ET) data, in the riparian corridor of the Colorado River delta as specified under Minute 319 of the 1944 Water Treaty. Additionally, these data were compiled for evaluating restoration-level data in Reach 2 and Reach 4, as specified under Minute 323 of the 1944 Water Treaty. Objectives of our study were to measure the peak growing season evapotranspiration (ET) for the average of months in summer-fall (May to October) for the seven reaches, for the full riparian corridor, and for four restoration sites, from 2013 through 2022. The seven reach areas from the Northerly International Boundary (NIB) to the end of the delta...
Well-established conservation planning principles and techniques framed by geodesign were used to assess the restorability of areas that historically supported coastal wetlands along the U.S. shore of Saginaw Bay. The resulting analysis supported planning efforts to identify, prioritize, and track wetland restoration opportunity and investment in the region. To accomplish this, publicly available data, criteria derived from the regional managers and local stakeholders, and geospatial analysis were used to form an ecological model for spatial prioritization.
These data were compiled for a networked field-trial restoration experiment (RestoreNet) that spans the southwestern US, including 21 distributed field sites. The objective of our study was to understand the environmental factors and restoration practices (including seed mixes and soil manipulation) that increase plant establishment and survival to ultimate improve restoration outcomes in dryland environments. These data represent point-in-time plant density and height measurements at our field sites at the time of monitoring. These data were collected at 21 arid and semi-arid sites, located throughout Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and California. These data were collected by USGS Restoration Assessment and Monitoring...
This USGS data release documents species distribution models for 271 fluvial fish species in their native ranges of the conterminous United States. Source data, supporting code and model results are documented in this data package. Boosted Regression Tree (BRT) models were used to develop presence/absence predictions for each of the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 2.1 stream segments within a species' native range. The predictions provided can be linked to the NHDPlusV2.1 geospatial dataset through the COMID to create a spatial depiction of the models. The primary results are stored in the file "BRT Predictions" and are provided in comma separated value (CSV) and Parquet file formats. Parquet file format...

The Gap Analysis Project (GAP) Analytical Database represents a synthesis of three core datasets for the conterminous U.S. Specifically 1) the GAP/LANDFIRE National Terrestrial Ecosystems_2011; 2) the Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US) 1.4; and 3) the Species Ranges and Habitat Distribution Models for all terrestrial vertebrates. This database provides a mechanism to effiiently obtain summary statistics of those for a variety of spatial extents, including US states, US counties, Landscape Conservation Cooperation Network Areas, EPA's Level III-IV Ecoregions of the United States, and Level I-III Ecoregions of North America and 12-digit (6th level) hydrologic units. All mensuration data represented here expand upon vessel operations (OP table) data, all of which are collected by the United States Geological Survey, Great Lakes Science Center and its partners. The Mensuration Tables contain data collected from the research vessel deploying various gear used for mensuration data collection. The database uses sample_type to indicate the gear deployed. The tables relating to Mensuration are: Mensuration.csv, MS_head_rope_depth.csv, MS_FOOT_ROPE_DEPTH, MS_Primary.csv, MS_Temperature.csv, and MS_Wingspread.csv Data Quality: Note that the following data release is a snapshot of the database at the time of release. Some data quality checks are still being undertaken after the time...
The present distribution of the Mexican vole (Microtus mexicanus) is not entirely the product of post-Pleistocene forest fragmentation and extinction; recent dispersal also is indicated. Literature records further suggest that this phenomenon may reflect a general pattern of northward range expansion in many southwestern mammal species. Published in Western North American Naturalist, volume 52, issue 3, in 1992.

The GIS shapefile Extra limit counts of southern sea otters 2019 is a point layer representing the locations of sea otter sightings that fall outside the officially recognized range of the southern sea otter (Enhydra lutris nereis) in mainland California. These data were collected during the spring 2019 range-wide census. The USGS range-wide sea otter census has been undertaken each year since 1982, using consistent methodology involving both ground-based and aerial-based counts. The spring census provides the primary basis for gauging population trends by State and Federal management agencies. Sea otter distribution in California (the mainland range) is considered to comprise a band of potential habitat stretching...

These data describe the distribution and abundance of Hydropsyche, a widespread and diverse genus of net-spinning caddisflies, in the Colorado River Basin. Abundance data, measured as catch rates, were collected by citizen scientists using light traps. We subsampled Hydropsyche spp. from light trap samples collected throughout the Colorado River Basin and measured the lengths and widths of mesothoracic tibia and first tarsal segments. Samples and measurements were processed at Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center in Flagstaff, AZ.
