Time-series measurements of waves, currents, water levels, sea surface temperatures, ocean salinity, and water, air, and ground temperatures were collected in July through September 2011 in and around Arey Lagoon, near Barter Island, Alaska. Directional wave spectra, currents, water levels, salinity, and bottom and surface water temperatures were measured with a bottom-mounted 1MHz Nortek AWAC, HOBO temperature loggers, and a Solinst Levelogger in ~5m water depth offshore of Arey Island. Within Arey Lagoon, a bottom-mounted frame equipped with a Nortek 1MHz Aquadopp, Solinst Levelogger, and HOBO temperature loggers measured currents, water levels, and water temperatures. Ground temperatures (maximum depth 3 meters...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Arkansas Geological Survey (AGS), has gathered available geophysical logs and related data from the USGS office archives in Arkansas and Tennessee as a basis for developing a hydrogeologic framework for the Southeast region of the United States. Similar efforts were undertaken by the Mississippi Embayment Regional Aquifer Study (MERAS) and the Regional Aquifer-System Analysis (RASA) Program. The logs compiled for these older efforts were difficult to access from the paper files; however, and partly because of this, older and newer logs were compiled into a single digital database for the current study.

From October 2016 to July 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Maine Department of Transportation, collected surface, marine and borehole geophysical surveys to characterize the subsurface materials on land and under the water at a former mine facility in Brooksville, Maine. Three water-based geophysical methods were used to evaluate the geometry and composition of subsurface materials. Continuous seismic profiling (CSP) methods provide the depth to water bottom, and, when sufficient signal penetration can be achieved, delineate the depth to bedrock and subbottom materials. Continuous resistivity profiling (CRP) and frequency domain electromagnetics (FDEM) methods...

NOTE: This data release has been superseded by a newer version: https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/5b6c8432e4b006a11f7bd01d Hot Creek Gorge contains the most obvious surface expression of the hydrothermal system in Long Valley Caldera, California, discharging 200-300 L/s of thermal water according to USGS measurements made since 1988. Formerly, Hot Creek was a popular public swimming area, but it was closed in 2006 due to unpredictable temperature fluctuations and sporadic geysering of thermal water within the creek (Evans et al., 2018). The USGS has monitored the thermal regime in the area since the mid-1980s, including a series of long-term studies 0.6 km away at well CH-10b. Temperature measurements in...

This data release includes the model input and output files for the 3D petroleum systems model of the Williston Basin. The model was created in Schlumberger's PetroMod version 2020.1. The enclosed folders are standard PetroMod format and contain all data necessary for defining and re-simulating the model. Please contact Tim Nesheim at the North Dakota Geologic Survey (tonesheim@nd.gov) directly for static temperature log data used in the temperature calibration. Proprietary IHS Markit ® (2022) data used for model calibration are also not included in this data release. This is a child item of a larger data release titled "Data release for the 3D petroleum systems model of the Williston Basin, USA".

The thermal maturity grids are results generated from the petroleum systems model for five major source rock intervals, which include, from youngest to oldest, the Tyler, Mission Canyon, upper part of the Bakken, Red River, and Icebox Formations. The units are in equivalent vitrinite reflectance using the Nielsen et al. (2017) Basin%Ro kinetic model. Note: these grids represent the modeled thermal maturity of the source interval horizon and may extend beyond the lithostratigraphic extent of the inferred source rock; they cover the entire petroleum systems model area of interest. This is a child item of a larger data release titled "Data release for the 3D petroleum systems model of the Williston Basin, USA".

Changes in Arctic coastal ecosystems in response to global warming may be some of the most severe on the planet. A better understanding and analysis of the rates at which these changes are expected to occur over the coming decades is crucial in order to delineate high-priority areas that are likely to be affected by climate changes. The data provided in this release are part of a study that assessed the likelihood of changes to a barrier island – lagoon systems in response to projected changes in atmospheric and oceanographic forcing associated with Arctic warming. Arey Lagoon and the surrounding area near Barter Island, Alaska, were focused upon as part of this pilot study. The study investigates the dominance...

These data are a compilation of 379 borehole temperature profiles collected during the period 1972 through 2018 for the Mesilla Basin, New Mexico. This dataset includes a comma-separated values file (Temperature Profile Index.csv) that serves as an index for the 379 text data files (.txt; with the file name corresponding to the “Well Name” in the index) that are included as a compressed (.zip) folder. Each data file contains header information that allows cross-referencing the sample location with other USGS databases and summarizes sample date, method of measurement, and the type of borehole. Following the header is a list of depths below ground surface with corresponding temperature measurements (a temperature...

Borehole geophysical logs were collected from May 2-3, 2017 in five boreholes to identify geophysical properties, including the electrical properties and natural gamma emissions. In addition, fluid electrical conductivity and temperature were collected through the water column in the well. Results can be used to identify the water level and the lithologic contacts in the subsurface. Natural...

The subsurface temperature grids are results/outputs from the 3D petroleum systems model. They represent modern subsurface temperatures in degrees Fahrenheit extracted onto the stratigraphic horizons in the model. The temperature values are calibrated using 24 high-resolution static temperature logs provided by the North Dakota Geological Survey and a large proprietary dataset (>1,000) of drill stem test (DST) and bottom hole temperatures (BHT) from boreholes throughout Montana and North Dakota provided by IHS Markit ® (2022). This is a child item of a larger data release titled "Data release for the 3D petroleum systems model of the Williston Basin, USA".
