This data release presents observations of riparian vegetation, topography, sediment quality, and river corridor geomorphology in four river reaches of the Lower Virgin River extending downstream 62 river kilometers (rkm) from near the town of Littlefield (AZ) and the Arizona-Nevada border at rkm 119. Methods included field observations and analysis of remotely-sensed data before (2010) and after (2011-2012) a 40-year return period flood (December 2010, at the gaging station “Virgin River near Littlefield” (USGS gage #09415000)). The data release includes four .csv files related to field observations: UTM coordinates of field transect locations; vegetation and geomorphology; species codes; and sediment quality....
Surficial geologic map the Newman Peak Quadrangle of the Picacho Basin. The Picacho basin is a large and complex graben surrounded by horsts and half-horsts, which are now the Picacho, Casa Grande, Silverbell, and Sacaton mountains. It formed mainly in response to late Miocene extension. Internal drainage probably persisted until about 3 million years ago. Several thousand meters of sediments fill the basin; 2000 m of evaporites and claystone form the bulk of the basin fill (Scarborough and Pierce, 1978). The upper 200 meters or so of basin fill was deposited by a gradually aggrading, regionally integrated drainage system. Young alluvium of the Santa Cruz River is up to 30 m thick and is found within 3.2 km of the...

Plant composition, geomorphic conditions and sediment properties before (2010) and after (2012) a 40 year return period flood (December 2010) at multiple transects within four reaches in the lower Virgin River, Nevada. The data contains four .csv files: localization (UTM coordinates of the transects), vegetation and geomorphology, species codes and sediment quality
