Brown Treesnake trap captures, Guam National Wildlife Refuge, 2014

Over a 22-week period both with and without active Brown Treesnake (BTS) snake removal, we evaluated snake-trap contact rates at mouse- and bird-lure traps within the Guam National Wildlife Refuge in 2014. Bird-lure traps served as a proxy for reintroduced nesting birds. Data consists of 3 files generated from camera surveillance and trapping using mouse and bird lures in conventional snake traps on a 6 x 18 trapping grid. Trap survey effort contains summary results for a set of traps on a single occasion. Mark release data consist of individual capture records of trapped snakes. Camera transcription consist of animals detected via motion and time-lapsed photography at traps using bird lures.

USGS Alaska Science Center Adult Shorebird Morphological Measurement Data

This dataset consists of three tables, 1) taxonomy, 2) contributors, and 3) shorebird morphological measurements collected from various species captured from 1977-2021. In addition, photographs of plumage patterns are available for several species. Researchers with the U.S. Geological Survey - Alaska Science Center, along with collaborators from many government agencies and research institutions, have studied shorebirds at numerous sites across North America, the Pacific Ocean, Australia, and New Zealand. This release includes over 10,000 observations relating to 35 shorebird species.

Experimental evaluation of predator exclosures on nest, chick, and adult survival data for the Northern Great Plains piping plover, 2014 - 2016

This dataset presents four tabular data files that evaluate the effect of predator exclosures around piping plover (Charadrius melodus) nests on plover nest, chick, within-season, and annual adult survival. During 2014-2016, we designed an experiment to examine nest (n = 418), chick (n = 453), and adult (n = 367) survival at alkaline wetlands of the Northern Great Plains. Alkaline wetlands were divided between treatment wetlands and control wetlands (no exclosures placed anywhere on wetland). Field crews aimed to place predator exclosures around half of all plover nests found resulting in three treatment types: uncaged nest on control wetland, uncaged nest on treatment wetland, and caged nest on treatment wetland....
