This dataset provides bi-monthly data on seed biomass collected in shallow water habitats across the fresh to saline gradient at coastal sites in Barataria Bay, Louisiana. This project was co-funded by the Gulf Coast Prairie and the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperatives and the South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center. Data from 316 boreholes (including coreholes) that penetrated buried pre-Middle Jurassic basement rocks that lie beneath Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plain sedimentary deposits in Florida and Alabama were compiled from non-proprietary, mostly published sources in order to support subsurface geologic mapping, geologic interpretation of geophysical data (aeromagnetic, gravity, seismic), topical studies as in geochronology, and applications ranging from mineral, energy, and water resources to earthquake hazards. The Cabin Branch and Cabin Creek (Cappy Avenue) outcrops are located along two small creeks in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The Cabin Branch outcrop contains exposures of silty sands of the Upper Cretaceous Severn Formation, and both outcrops contain Paleocene silty quartz and glauconitic sands of the Danian Brightseat Formation and highly fossiliferous glauconitic quartz sands of the Selandian Aquia Formation. Data from these two locations were generated in order to designate a Principal Reference Section for the Danian age Brightseat Formation. This projects primary goal was to provide data on biomass of potential seed resources located within shallow water coastal areas within fresh to saline coastal waters of the northern Gulf of Mexico. The data set provides biomass of seeds, by species or lowest practical taxon from 2013, 2014 and 2015 across 384 randomly selected sites located in shallow water coastal areas. The data were collected between June and September of each year. This data set can be merged with a dataset which reports submerged aquatic vegetation and environmental data collected at the same time (La Peyre et al. 2017; https://doi.org/10.5066/F7Z899WV).
