The Aleutian archipelago is an area that is rich in cultural history. Information about cultural sites and artifacts exists in a variety of formats including peer-reviewed publications, agency reports, and other records. The purpose of this project is to: (1) develop GIS data layer(s) of cultural sites that can be used in vulnerability assessments; and (2) develop an annotated bibliography of literature about cultural resources that can help guide future management and research in the region.
The Conservation Biology Institute will develop a Southern Rockies LCC Conservation Planning Atlas (SRLCC CPA) powered by Data Basin that will make it easier for resource managers and other stakeholders to discover, analyze, and interpret spatial data on priority topics including aquatic resource management and climate impacts. The SRLCC CPA will facilitate conservation planning, analyses and evaluation from common datasets and provide basic mapping capability to users without desktop GIS software. The SRLCC CPA will most directly support science needs in Funding Category II, however because of the design of this flexible web-based platform, it can be used to inform management decisions spanning a wide range of...

The Aleutian and Bering Sea Islands Landscape Conservation Cooperative (ABSI LCC) is a self-directed partnership whose mission is to promote coordination, dissemination, and development of applied science to inform conservation of natural and cultural resources in the face of climate change and other landscape scale stressors. The ABSI region is one of the most remote and inaccessible areas within the national LCC network. As a result, access is both limited and expensive. The use of “Platforms of Opportunity” is one collaborative approach that allows researchers to collect valuable data that otherwise would not be possible. Unfortunately, the is no single resource available that contains information about planned...

The purpose of this agreement is to initiate SRLCC-wide data discovery, cataloging, and general GIS analysis to characterize the landscape across the SRLCC geographic area. The SRLCC has identified the need for a data management activity to support all aspects of data discovery, dissemination, cataloging, and analysis. An existing agreement between FWS and the USGS provides for an SRLCC catalog inside the U.S. Geological Survey-sponsored ScienceBase scientific data and information management platform and provides the ability for partner organizations to maintain and contribute to this work environment. Initial information and data discovery process will compile existing resources in the ScienceBase SRLCC data portal...
