This Benthic Invertebrate Community Analysis dataset, a conceptual subgroup of the Lake Erie Ecological Investigations (LEEI) dataset, focuses on the benthic invertebrates sampled at Areas of Concern (AOCs) on Lake Erie. Per the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP), the invertebrate samples were taken from sediments remaining from the sediment analysis. Identification of the invertebrates was completed by the same invertebrate taxonomist for both the 1998-2000 evaluation and 1986-87 historical evaluation (Smith et al. 1994) for increased consistency. Oligochaetes were identified to species if possible, chironomids were identified to genus, as adult specimens are needed for specific identification, and other taxa...
The Integrated Scenarios of the Future Northwest Environment project (an FY2012 NW CSC funded project), resulted in several datasets describing projected changes in climate, hydrology and vegetation for the 21st century over the Northwestern US. The raw data is available in netCDF format, which is a standard data file format for weather forecasting/climate change/GIS applications. However, the sheer size of these datasets and the specific file format (netCDF) for data access pose significant barriers to data access for many users. This is a particular challenge for many natural/cultural resource managers and others working on conservation efforts in the Pacific Northwest. The goal of this project was to increase...
Geodatabase Containing Bull Trout (Salvelinus confluentus) Information from the Upper Boise River, Southwestern Idaho
Bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus), listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, are among the more thermally sensitive of coldwater species in North America. The Boise River upstream of Arrowrock Dam in southwestern Idaho (including Arrowrock Reservoir) provides habitat for one of the southernmost populations of bull trout. The presence of the species in Arrowrock Reservoir poses implications for dam and reservoir operations. From 2011 to 2014, the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Geological Survey collected fish telemetry data to improve understanding of bull trout distribution and movement in Arrowrock Reservoir and in the upper Boise River tributaries. The U.S. Geological Survey compiled the telemetry...
This report summarizes the results of velocity measurements ofoutlet glaciers, ice streams, and ice shelves around theAntarctic periphery. For some regions, where suitable imageswere available, the same area was measured repeatedly tovalidate the data or register changes in velocity with time. The results given here are a compendium of published papersand work in progress. The results constitute a data base thatwill be added to and amended as more velocity measurementsbecome available.
A network of 31 Upper Missouri River Basin naturalized water-year (Oct-Sep) streamflow reconstructions spanning years 800-1998 CE
Paleohydrologic records provide a valuable perspective on the variability of streamflow and hydroclimate that is critical for water resource planning and placing present day and future conditions into a long-term context. Until now, key insights gained from streamflow reconstructions in the other river basins across the Western U.S. been lacking in the Upper Missouri River Basin due to a lack of extended streamflow records. Here we utilize a new database of naturalized streamflow records for the Upper Missouri and an expanded network of tree-ring records from the region to reconstruct streamflow at 31 gaging locations across the major Mountain Headwaters of the United States’ largest river basin. The database also...

A compilation of sulphur dioxide and carbon dioxide emission-ratedata from Cook Inlet volcanoes (Redoubt, Spurr, Illiamna, andAugustine), Alaska during the period from 1990 to 1994
This report contains all of the available daily sulfur dioxide andcarbon dioxide emission rates from Cook Inlet volcanoes asdetermined by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from March 1990through July 1994. Airborne sulfur dioxide gas sampling of theCook Inlet volcanoes (Redoubt, Spurr, Iliamna, and Augustine)began in 1986 when several measurements were carried out atAugustine volcano during the eruption of 1986. Systematic monitoringfor sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide began in March 1990 atRedoubt volcano and continues to the present. Intermittentmeasurements at Augustine and Iliamna volcanoes began in 1990 andcontinues to the present. Intermittent measurements began at Spurrvolcano in 1991, and were continued...
This data set contains daily survival rates from 81 studies of passerine obligate grassland bird species that primarily breed in the United States; patch size information was extracted when available. Temperature and precipitation variables were calculated for the study sites and years the data were collected. The studies we used collected data across the period 1978 to 2013.

This Sediment Analysis dataset, a conceptual subgroup of the Lake Erie Ecological Investigations (LEEI) dataset, focuses on the sediments sampled at Areas of Concern (AOCs) on Lake Erie. Per the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP), sediment collections were a composite of at least five randomly selected samples collected from each site. Per an internal summary report, sediment samples were collected using a stainless steel Eckman dredge. Analytical methods and QA/QC were directed by the Patuxent Analytical Control Facility (PACF) of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Per Dora Passino-Reader, the Geochemical & Environmental Research Group at Texas A&M University, College Station performed the analytical chemistry...
Case study of the environmental signature of a recently abandoned, carbonate-hosted replacement deposit: The Clayton Mine, Idaho

Data for and estimates of wet deposition and streamwater solute fluxes at the Panola Mountain Research Watershed, Stockbridge, Ga., water years 1986-2016
This dataset contains the data and results of an analysis estimating wet deposition and streamwater solute fluxes at Panola Mountain Research Watershed (PMRW), Panola Mountain State Park, Stockbridge, Georgia for water years 1986–2016. The PMRW is a small (41 ha), relatively undisturbed, forested headwater catchment in the Piedmont Province of Southeastern United States. This data provides the basis for using a watershed mass-balance approach, in which inputs and outputs of water and solutes are quantified and compared to better understand hydrologic and biogeochemical processes on a watershed scale. The dataset contains 13 datasets consisting of a variety of data series and results, which are summarized herein...
A rich legacy of geochemical data produced since the early 1960s covers the great expanse of Alaska; careful treatment of such data may provide significant and revealing geochemical maps that may be used for landscape geochemistry, mineral resource exploration, and geoenvironmental investigations over large areas. To maximize the spatial density and extent of data coverage for statewide mapping of element distributions, we compiled and integrated analyses of more than 175,000 sediment and soil samples from three major, separate sources: the U.S. Geological Survey, the National Uranium Resource Evaluation program, and the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys geochemical databases. Various types of...
A comma separated values (csv) file that is a snapshot of percent difference between November 19, 2008 and November 14, 2016 peak streamflow. The file lists station identification, water year, original (2008) peak Q, current (2016) peak Q and percent difference calculated per water year. The percent difference was calculated as the absolute value of [(current peak Q - original peak Q)/(original peak Q) x 100], where current peak Q is the 2016 peak and the original peak Q is the 2008 peak. When an original peak Q value is 0, the resultant percent difference calculation is undefined because of division by 0. In these cases, the percent difference field is populated with NA. Those entries are included in the data file...
