This product is the result of a comprehensive compilation of site-specific ground photographs taken where tectonic faulting and ground failure produced visible deformation that fractured and disturbed the ground surface. The resultant data is distributed as a tab-delimited text file. All post-earthquake photographs taken by investigators working for public agencies are in the public domain, including data that have been published in summary reports elsewhere.
This dataset contains a provisional release of field observations at sites of fault rupture and ground deformation features where quantitative displacement measurements were obtained. This release does not include associated photographs and some observations where there are outstanding questions about the measurements received; some duplicate observations may exist in this dataset. Photos and resolved measurement data are anticipated for a future release. This dataset consists of a comma-delimited ASCII text file where each line in the file represents an observation, suitable for importing into a spreadsheet, database or GIS application for visualization and analysis. This product presents summary information from field observations and photographs (data contained in the associated Observations.txt and Photos.txt data files) in KMZ format, allowing for: a) viewing the data in a spatial context within Google Earth or other earth viewers, b) easily accessing full-resolution photographs; and c) relating this information to mapped fault rupture and ground deformation features. It is intended as a companion dataset to the KMZ representation of fault rupture and ground deformation features located at: https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/5c1a285ee4b0708288c2b1cf.

The resultant data is distributed as a tab-delimited text file. All post-earthquake ground rupture observations and slip/displacement measurements are those in the public domain, including data that have been published in summary reports elsewhere.
Locations along fault trends and InSAR lineaments where surface faulting was anticipated but where no evidence of ground disturbance was observed. Each record in our Negative Evidence table constitutes a station, which is a location where an observation was made by a single investigator or a field team working together (an observer) during a single visit on particular date.
