Data were collected associated with the application of a pesticide to a stormwater retention pond and burrows to suppress or eradicate an invasive crayfish species, Procambarus clarkii, in support of high-priority research developing control methods to mitigate impacts of invasive crayfish within the Great Lakes Basin. Effectiveness of the treatment was accessed using an in-situ bioassay and by measuring pesticide concentrations in water, sediment, and caged crayfish. Water quality data, including temperature, pH, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, hardness, ammonia, and turbidity, in stormwater ponds was collected to evaluate whether environmental conditions may impact treatment effectiveness and...
The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the Goose Point/Point Platte Marsh Creation (PO-33) project for 2018. This data is used as a basemap land-water classification. It also serves as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land loss within...
Shell Island East Barrier Island Restoration (BA-0110): 2013 habitat pre-construction classification
This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the Shell Island East Barrier Island Restoration (BA-0110) project for 2013. This data is used as a basemap habitat classification. If repeated, it can also serve as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land loss within their project boundary. To better evaluate the effectiveness of restoration efforts, a habitat classification was performed on specific projects to help assess landscape changes.

The NABat sampling frame is a grid-based finite-area frame spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico consisting of N total number of 10- by 10-km (100-km2) grid cell sample units. This grain size is biologically appropriate given the scale of movement of most bat species, which routinely travel many kilometers each night between roosts and foraging areas and along foraging routes. A draw of sample units from a finite sampling frame using the GRTS design produces an ordered list of units such that any ordered subset of that list is also randomized and spatially balanced. This vector dataset is the individual grid-based sampling grid for Hawaii at a 5x5km resolution.

This is the input data associated with the project: “Status and Trends of Deciduous Communities in the Bighorn Mountains”. The aim of the study is to assess the current trends of deciduous communities in the Bighorn National Forest in north-central Wyoming. The data here represents phase I of the project, completed in FY2017. The USGS created a synthesis map of coniferous and deciduous communities in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming using a species distribution modeling approach developed in the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI) (Assal et al. 2015). The modeling framework utilized a number of topographic covariates and temporal remote sensing data from the early, mid and late growing season to capitalize...

This sampling frame is a set of grid-based finite-area frames spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The grid for the United States is broken into individual grids for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Alaska is combined with Canada into a single grid. Each country/state/territory extent consists of four nested sampling grids at 50x50km, 10x10km, 5x5km, and 1x1km resolutions. The original 10x10km continental United States grid was developed by the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture for use in the interagency “Bat Grid” monitoring program in the Pacific Northwest and was expanded across Canada, the United States, and Mexico for the North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat)....

These operational land imager (OLI) value added data sets, maps, and associated ancillary data were compiled as part of an ongoing research aimed at quantifying the riparian vegetation greenness and water use in the lower Colorado River Delta in Mexico. In order to create trend and anomaly maps that characterize these ecosystems Vegetation Index (NDVI) time series imagery from Landsat OLI were acquired and processed over time and space along seven predefined reaches that capture different natural states and management conditions. We used Landsat OLI 30m data as an improvement upon past studies that were based on coarser remote sensing data from the NASA MODIS sensor (250 m). The OLI 30m images provide better characterization...
These data were compiled for evaluating river-reach level plant water use, or evapotranspiration (ET), and vegetation greenness, or Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), in the riparian corridor of the Colorado River delta as specified under Minute 319 of the 1944 Water Treaty. The seven reach areas from the Northerly International Boundary (NIB) to the end of the delta at the Sea of Cortez were defined for research activities. Also, these seven reaches are being monitored under Minute 323 of the 1944 Water Treaty. Additionally, these data were compiled for evaluating restoration-level evapotranspiration and vegetation greenness data in Reach 2 and Reach 4, as specified under Minute 323 of the 1944 Water...
Observations and subtle shifts of vegetation communities in Lake Erie have USGS researchers concerned about the potential for Grass Carp to alter these vegetation communities. Broad-scale surveys of vegetation using remote sensing and GIS mapping, coupled with on-the-ground samples in key locations will permit assessment of the effect Grass Carp may have already had on aquatic vegetation communities and establish baseline conditions for assessing future effects. Existing aerial imagery was used with object-based image analysis to detect and map aquatic vegetation in the eastern basin of Lake Erie.

These data include goals, objectives, and performance measures from management plans and monitoring surveys related to fisheries management in the St. Clair-Detroit River System and the Western Basin of Lake Erie. Researchers extracted these data from existing management plans identified from on-line grey literature searches and discussions with collaborators and regional fisheries management personnel
