Distribution of eelgrasses in coastal British Columbia showing relative abundance (RA) and overall relative importance (RI). RI is based on project region and not on the province as a whole. British Columbia has been collecting coastal resource data in a systematic and synoptic manner since 1979. Resource information is collected using peer-reviewed provincial Resource Information Standards Committee which include standards for data management and analysis
This dataset includes biological variables showing surf smelt spawning presence, geological variables describing beach composition, and sample locations using RTK-GPS. This field data was also used to run the Sea Level Affecting Marshes Model (SLAMM; Warren Pinnacle Consulting, Inc., Warren, Vt)) to predict the changes to beaches over time, and under different sea level rise scenarios. Field sampling took place on the northern part of Bainbridge Island, Puget Sound, Washington during summer and fall of 2010.
San Francisco baywide eelgrass layer with density attributes developed from data collected in 2003 and 2009.These data are intended to identify existing eelgrass beds and conditions under which eelgrass can occur throughout the Bay. In addition, the program is designed to identify current eelgrass stressors and opportunities for enhancement of eelgrass communities within the Estuary. The results of the Program will facilitate management of eelgrass habitat resources in the Bay by providing regulatory and resource agencies additional knowledge of the status, distribution, and environmental parameters of eelgrass within this highly dyna mic system.
