This dataset consists of the boundary extent used to evaluate regolith thickness, bedrock altitude, depth to water, potentiometric-surface altitude, and saturated thickness for the shallow groundwater system in the Lower Gunnison River Basin, in Delta, Montrose, Ouray, and Gunnison Counties, Colorado. The U.S. Geological Survey prepared this dataset in cooperation with the Colorado Water Conservation Board.

The Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) is a voluntary program administered by the NRCS. It provides technical and financial assistance to private landowners and Tribes to restore, protect, and enhance wetlands in exchange for retiring eligible land from agriculture. For a site to be a wetland eligible for restoration, it must be in a zone with sustained or frequent flooding for a period of 7 consecutive days on average at least once every 2 years (a value termed the 7MQ2). This study calculated the 7MQ2 flows for all the U.S. Geological Survey streamgages within the selected study reaches. These flows were related to the stage discharge tables for each streamgage and a corresponding elevation was determined. By use of...
Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport, Texas on August 25 as a category 4 hurricane with wind gusts exceeding 150 miles per hour. As Harvey moved inland the forward motion of the storm slowed down and produced tremendous rainfall amounts to southeastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana. Historic flooding occurred in Texas and Louisiana as a result of the widespread, heavy rainfall over an 8-day period in Louisiana in August and September 2017. Following the storm event, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) hydrographers recovered and documented 2,123 high-water marks in Texas, noting location and height of the water above land surface. Many of these high-water marks were used to create flood-inundation maps for...

This geodatabase contains the spatial datasets that represent the Edwards-Trinity aquifer system in the States of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Included are: (1) polygon extents; datasets that represent the aquifer system extent, the entire extent subdivided into subareas or subunits, and any polygon extents of special interest (no data available, areas underlying other aquifers, anomalies, for example), (2) raster datasets for...

The mapped area boundary, flood inundation extents, and depth rasters were created to provide an estimated extent of flood inundation along the Greenbrier River within the community of Alderson, West Virginia. These geospatial data include the following items: 1. greenbrier_ald_bnd; shapefile containing the polygon showing the mapped area boundary for the Greenbrier River flood maps, 2. greenbrier_ald_hwm; shapefile containing high-water mark points, 3. polygon_greenbrier_ald_hwm; shapefile containing mapped extent of flood inundation, derived from the water-surface elevation surveyed at high-water marks, 4. depth_hwm; raster file for the flood depths derived from the water-surface elevation surveyed at high-water...
These polygon boundaries, inundation extents, and depth rasters were created to provide an extent of flood inundation along the Lumber River within the community of Fair Bluff, North Carolina. The upstream and downstream reach extent is determined by the location of high-water marks, not extending the boundary far past the outermost high-water marks. In areas of uncertainty of flood extent, the model boundary is lined up with the flood inundation polygon extent. This boundary polygon was used to extract the final flood inundation polygon and depth layer from the flood water surface raster file. The passage of Hurricane Matthew through central and eastern North Carolina during October 7-9, 2016, brought heavy rainfall...

The Nacatoch Sand in southwestern Arkansas, hereafter referred to as the Nacatoch aquifer, is a source of groundwater for agricultural, domestic, industrial, and public use inClark, Hempstead, Little River, Miller and Nevada counties. Water-level altitudes measured in 39 wells completed in the Nacatoch aquifer were used to create a potentiometric-surface map. Groundwater flow direction is towards the south and southeast in Hempstead, Little River, and Nevada Counties in southwestern Arkansas. A possible cone of depression may exist in southern Clark County and likely alters groundwater flow from a regional direction toward the depression. This shapefile depicts the generalized extent of the Southwest Nacatoch aquifer.
