National-scale geologic, geophysical, and mineral resource raster and vector data covering the United States, Canada, and Australia are provided in this data release. The data were compiled as part of the tri-national Critical Minerals Mapping Initiative (CMMI). The CMMI, established in 2019, is an international science collaboration between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Geoscience Australia (GA), and the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). One aspect of the CMMI is to use national- to global-scale earth science data to map where critical mineral prospectivity may exist using advanced machine learning approaches (Kelley, 2020). The geoscience information presented in this report include the training and evidential...

A key input for probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) is geologic slip rate data. Here, we compile all geologic slip rates that are reportedly used in U.S. National Seismic Hazard Map (NSHM) releases from 1996, 2002, 2007, 2008, and 2014. Although a new NSHM was released in 2018, no changes were made in geologic slip rate data used. The geologic slip rates are collated from existing NSHM reports and documentation, and no new data are reported herein. The geologic slip rates are coupled with the fault geometries used in NSHM2014/2018 calculations. The data are presented spatially as a shapefile (SHP), in keyhole markup language (KML) and geoJSON. A readme file accompanies this dataset explaining details of...

Version 2.0 is now available. Please see new data release here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9AB0TA7. A key input for probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) is geologic slip rate data. Yet, no single database exists to house all geologic slip rate data used in these calculations. The geologic slip rates are coupled with the most up-to-date fault...

Data presented here include a shapefile that combines fault data for the United States and Canada (Chorlton, 2007; Reed and others, 2005; Styron and Pagani, 2020) and a shapefile of faults for Australia (Chorlton, 2007; Raymond and others, 2012; Styron and Pagani, 2020). These two shapefiles were used as an evidential layer to evaluate the mineral prospectivity for sediment-hosted Pb-Zn deposits (Lawley and others, 2022). This data release contains two datasets that depict fault rupture on the East Anatolian and Çardak faults resulting from the Mw7.8 and Mw7.5 earthquakes in Turkey (Türkiye). It contains two additional datasets that describe satellite imagery coverage and observation gaps. The 6 February 2023 earthquake sequence caused >500 km of combined surface rupture on the primarily left-lateral strike-slip East Anatolian and Çardak faults. The two datasets represent (1) simplified fault traces inferred from displacement discontinuities in interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) scenes mapped at 1:750,000 scale (“simple_faults”) and (2) detailed mapping of fault surface rupture observed on high-resolution (<1.0 m/pix)...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This digital geospatial dataset documents the fault traces in the Anza and Terwilliger area of southwest Riverside County, California, that were modified from Moyle (1971) by Woolfenden and Bright (1988, figure 8). The fault information is used to help assess ground-water level changes in the area of Anza and Terwilliger between 2004 and 2005.
These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This digital data set contains geologic formations for the 1:250,000-scale Sherman quadrangle, Texas and Oklahoma. The original data are from the Bureau of Economic Geology publication, "Geologic Atlas of Texas, Sherman sheet", by J.H. McGowen, T.F. Hentz, D.E. Owen, M.K. Pieper, C.A. Shelby, and V.E. Barnes, 1967, revised 1991.
This dataset describes faults and structural features of the Caribbean region (Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, United States, Venezuela, and the Virgin Islands (named countries may not be completely shown on map)).

The Great Plains Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GPLCC, https://www.fws.gov/science/catalog) is a partnership that provides applied science and decision support tools to assist natural resource managers conserve plants, fish and wildlife in the mid- and short-grass prairie of the southern Great Plains. It is part of a national network of public-private partnerships — known as Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCCs, http://www.fws.gov/science/shc/lcc.html) — that work collaboratively across jurisdictions and political boundaries to leverage resources and share science capacity. The Great Plains LCC identifies science priorities for the region and helps foster science that addresses these priorities to support...
