The shapefiles depict the 2D HEC-RAS hydraulic modeling domains used for the simulations described in the associated publication. Model domains were delineated in the HEC-RAS geometry editor to encompass river-valley bottoms and adjacent hillslopes of four river reaches of contrasting contributing area and morphology: Seneca Creek at Dawsonville, MD; Patapsco River at Woodstock, MD; Patuxent River at Unity, MD; and Little Gunpowder Falls at Laurel Brook, MD.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the city of Grandview, Missouri, assessed flooding of the Little Blue River at Grandview resulting from varying precipitation magnitudes and durations, and expected land cover changes. The precipitation scenarios were used to develop a library of flood-inundation maps that included a 3.5-mile reach of the Little Blue River and tributaries within and adjacent to the city. A hydrologic model of the upper Little Blue River Basin, and hydraulic model of a selected study reach of the Little Blue River and tributaries were constructed to assess streamflow magnitudes associated with simulated precipitation amounts and the resulting flood-inundation conditions. The...

These datasets are raster files that represent water depths associated with each flood inundation boundary for 157 flooding scenarios in an 8-mile reach of the Papillion Creek near Offutt Air Force Base. These raster files were created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the U.S. Air Force, Offutt Air Force Base for use within the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping program. The flood-inundation maps, which can be accessed through the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping Science website at https://www.usgs.gov/mission-areas/water-resources/science/flood-inundation-mapping-fim-program, depict estimates of the areal extent and depth of flooding corresponding to selected water levels (stages) at the USGS streamgages...

This project will provide a comprehensive synthesis of beaver recolonization science and techniques for successful reintroduction or population expansion through a thorough, in-depth, coordinated review of all North American beaver-related information, including identification of research gaps and data needs, and recommendations for project implementation. This information will be disseminated through a series of one-day workshops.

This data release has been deprecated. Please see new data release here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9CIK9ZF. This data release documents the digital data used to produce flood-inundation maps for a range of gage heights (stages) for the Sabinal River near Utopia, Tex. The simulated flood-inundation maps correspond to a range in stage from 7 to 24 feet (ft) at U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgage 08197970 Sabinal River at Utopia, Tex. at intervals of 0.5-ft. The maps were created for a 10-mile reach of the Sabinal River extending from USGS streamgage 08197936 Sabinal River below Mill Creek near Vanderpool, Tex. to USGS streamgage 08197970 Sabinal River at Utopia, Tex. (hereinafter referred to as the “Utopia gage”)...

Floodplain inundation is believed to be the dominant physical driver of an array of ecosystem patterns and processes in the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS). Here, we present the results of a geospatial surface-water connectivity model in support of ecological investigations fully described in the USGS Open File Report entitled “Indicators of Ecosystem Structure and Function for the Upper Mississippi River System” (De Jager et al., in review). Briefly, we identified likely instances of floodplain submergence by comparing a daily time series of gage-derived water surface elevations to topo-bathymetric data modified to account for slopes and hydrologic routing. The resulting raster attribute table contains columns...

Geomorphometry for Streams and Floodplains in the Chesapeake and Delaware Watersheds was generated as part of the project Quantifying Floodplain Ecological Processes and Ecosystem Services in the Delaware River Watershed funded through the William Penn Foundation' Delaware Watershed Research fund. This dataset contains geomorphometry for streams and floodplains in the Chesapeake and Delaware River watersheds. Geomorphometry is a quantitative representation of landscape surface form (e.g., channel width and depth) obtained from digital elevation models (DEMs). The dataset contains geomorphometry derived from running 3-m DEMs through the Floodplain and Channel Evaluation Tool (FACET) version 0.1.0. FACET generates...
