Data were collected on seed production dynamics of long-lived plants, reproductive plant traits of those plant species, and weather variability for sites where those species live. Data include the coefficient of variation in seed production over time, the variation (coefficient of variation or standard deviation) in weather over years, and reproductive traits such as pollination mode and seed dispersal mechanism. Data series were distributed globally and encompass 920 data series containing 311 plant species. Data series are all 6 or more years in length.

This research examines the effects of climate change on the species composition of forests in the southern Great Lakes region in USA (Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio) by simultaneously addressing five key components necessary for realistic predictions of future forest composition. We simulated transient (1), species-level (2), forest response to climate change at a spatial scale that accounted for competitive effects (3), and regional site diversity (4), in the spatial configuration of forests within the regional landuse matrix (5). The JABOWA-II forest growth model was used to provide species-specific responses of 45 tree species to site conditions (e.g. climatic, edaphic) while accounting for competition for limited...

This dataset contains data collected in the field for the field component of the 2018-20 UMRR Science in support of Restoration Forest Canopy Gap Dynamics study titled "Forest canopy gap dynamics: quantifying forest gaps and understanding gap – level forest regeneration in Upper Mississippi River floodplain forests."
Forest canopy gap metrics for select floodplain forest canopy gaps in the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS).
These snag (dead tree) fall data were collected as part of long term forest dynamics data. Tree fall data were collected non-systematically as text comments until 2013, after which explicit snag fall data were collected on an annual basis. This particular dataset includes data from 23 plots in old-growth mixed conifer and montane conifer forests in Sequoia-Kings Canyon and Yosemite National Parks. The plots range in size from 0.9 ha to 2.5 ha and were established from 1982 to 2001. We used demography plot data through 2021 (collected before the extensive KNP Complex wildfire burned many of the plots). Before 2021, four of the 23 plots had experienced relatively recent prescribed burns or wildfires. When established,...
