These data include Ceratocystis culture viability results from ambrosia beetle (Coleopetera: Scolytinae) frass. Frass is defined as fine particles of macerated wood or boring dust, beetle parts, and feces. Frass was collected from individual ambrosia beetle galleries in Ceratocystis-infected ʻōhiʻa (Metrosideros polymorpha) trees on Hawaiʻi Island, a phenomenon referred to as Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death (ROD). We recorded the height at which these beetles produced frass, how long we collected frass from galleries, and the total number of culturing tests from individual galleries.
These data include bark and ambrosia beetle (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) species collected in cross-vane panel traps (CVPT) baited with a 1:1 methanol:ethanol lure in Northeastern ʻōhiʻa lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha) dominant forests of Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi in 2021.
These data include the quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) Ceratocystis lukuohia and C. huliohia DNA confirmations of viable subcultures. These data were used to determine the accuracy of morphological identifications.

We designed two new samplers for monitoring airborne particulates, including fungal and fern spores and plant pollen, that rely on natural wind currents (Passive Environmental Sampler) or a battery operated fan (Active Environmental Sampler). Both samplers are modeled after commercial devices such as the Rotorod® and the Burkard samplers, but are more economical and require less maintenance than commercial devices. We compared our two new samplers to Rotorod® samplers using Xyleborus spp. boring dust (frass) known to contain fungi responsible for Rapid ʽŌhiʽa Death. This data release includes data and metadata used in the estimation of Ceratocystis lukuohia survival in ambrosia beetle frass under various temperature and humidity conditions on Hawaiʻi Island. Data were used in the analysis of the manuscript, "Ceratocystis lukuohia-infested ambrosia beetle frass as inoculum for Ceratocystis wilt of Metrosideros polymorpha." Frass was exposed at two locations including Volcano and Hilo, as well as a control incubator and frass was tested for viable C. lukuohia propagules through a carrot baiting technique over time.

Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death is a fatal disease caused by Ceratocystis lukuohia and C. huliohia that are decimating Hawaiʻiʻs keystone trees species, ʻōhiʻa (Metrosideros polymorpha). We developed practical and effective decontamination practices for both cultured C. lukuohia and C. huliohia as well as Ceratocystis spores embedded in ambrosia beetle frass (fine particles of macerated wood or boring dust, beetle parts, and feces). This data release includes data and metadata containing decontamination results of ambrosia beetle (Coleoptera: Scolytinae) frass contaminated with Ceratocystis lukuohia propagules using various laboratory and household disinfectants.
These data include bark and ambrosia beetle (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) species directly reared from ʻōhiʻa lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha) wood infected with either Ceratocystis lukuohia or Ceratocystis huliohia, the pathogens responsible for Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death (ROD). Rearing took place on Kauaʻi between January 2020 and November 2021.
