This data release contains environmental tracer concentrations, modeled recharge conditions (water temperature, excess air), and resulting estimated groundwater residence times. This dataset supports an integrated hydrogeochemical investigation of solute sources, groundwater recharge processes, and groundwater flow in the Fountain Creek alluvial aquifer. This dataset contains environmental tracer data from surface water and groundwater samples collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in Redwell Basin, an alpine watershed in the Elk Mountains near the town of Crested Butte, Colorado. The basin is underlain by interbedded shale and sandstone that have been variably hydrothermally altered and silicified by local magmatic intrusions. Samples were collected from 2017 to 2019 from bedrock monitoring wells completed at multiple depths, shallow hand-installed piezometers and mini boreholes, springs, mine adits, and streams. Regional-scale groundwater flow modeling of the Fennoscandian shield suggests that groundwater flow can be strongly affected by future climate change and glaciation. We considered variable-density groundwater flow in a 1500-km-long and approximately 10-km-deep cross-section through southern Sweden. Groundwater flow and shield brine transport in the cross-sectional model were analyzed under projected surface conditions for the next 140 ka. This data release consists of 1,984 line-kilometers of airborne electromagnetic (AEM), magnetic data and radiometric data collected from October to November 2017 in the upper East River and surrounding watersheds in central Colorado. The U.S. Geological Survey contracted Geotech Ltd. to acquire these data as part of regional investigations into the geologic structure and hydrologic framework of the area. The AEM data have been inverted to produce a series of regional cross-sections that constrain the electrical properties of the subsurface to a depth of ~500m. A three-dimensional hydrogeologic framework model (3D HFM) of the westernmost western Snake River Plain (WSRP) aquifer system was prepared to represent the subsurface distribution and thickness of four hydrogeologic units. The primary source of data for the 3D HFM was lithologic data from a total of 291 well-driller reports. These data were then processed using Rockware Rockworks17 three-dimensional modeling software. The data released here are grouped into three datasets: (1) An ASCII text file of the 3D HFM containing XYZ data. (2) Comma-delineated CSV files containing well information including lithology. (3) An MP4 video file showing the 3D HFM model as it is revealed by slices and then rotated.

Groundwater in the Big Lost River Basin is vital to irrigated agriculture in the basin and water users are concerned about declining groundwater levels. The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Water Resources, developed a hydrogeologic framework to provide a conceptual understanding of groundwater resources in the Big Lost River Basin. Alluvial basin boundaries in the Upper Rio Grande Basin (URGB) were a needed dataset for the groundwater component of the URGB Focus Area Study (FAS). A literature and data search revealed not all of the alluvial fill basins existed in a digital format that could be imported and used in a Geographic Information System (GIS). Available resources such as georeferenced report figures, digital elevation models (DEMs), principal aquifer dataset, surficial geology, and structural features, such as faults, were used to aid in defining the alluvial basin boundaries. The groundwater-level change maps for the Sparta-Memphis aquifer are constructed as a point-to-point comparison between wells measured in both 2011 and 2013. Wells not measured in both 2011 and 2013 were not included in the change maps construction. The 2011-2013 change map contains 261 corresponding wells. Groundwater-level differences were calculated by subtracting 2011 groundwater-level measurements, in ft below land surface from the 2013 groundwater-level measurements, in feet below land surface.

This dataset presents data and analysis from a carbonate-rock aquifer test, conducted near Long Canyon, Nevada in 2016 by Newmont Mining Corporation. Data collected during the test include tabular pumping, subsurface loss from spring supplementation and aquifer-test discharge (ditch discharge), water-levels, and weather data. Aquifer testing was conducted in the Paradox Valley alluvial aquifer in Montrose County, Colorado, including short-term (slug tests) and long-term (pumping tests) stresses on the hydrologic system to determine hydraulic properties of the aquifer. Slug tests were conducted at four wells in March 2013, with only one well producing data that could be interpreted using analytical solutions. The effects of vertical flowmeter placement relative to the vertical fracture opening were examined using the colloidal borescope flowmeter (HB). For these measurements, the HB measurement interval was located at a depth equal to 0.5-inch above and below the top and bottom edges of the fracture, respectively; at upper and lower edge of the fracture; at the center of the fracture; and 0.25-inch above and below the center of the fracture.
