This data set consists of polylines representing groundwater-level altitude contours, 1982, for middle Humboldt River basin, north-central Nevada as published on plate 2, figure 3 in the U.S. Geological Survey Water-Resources Investigations Report 98-4209 titled "Hydrogeologic framework and ground-water levels, 1982 and 1996, middle Humboldt River basin, north-central Nevada," 1999. A subset of the contours were published as part of a larger data set representing water-table contours for Nevada (Buto and others, 2006). The remaining contours have been added to complete this data set. This dataset is the product of a geospatial interpolation using groundwater-level data obtained from a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) synoptic survey of 129 groundwater wells in Fauquier County from October 29 through November 2, 2018 and selected points from the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) to represent a continuous groundwater-level altitude surface. Methodology is detailed in USGS SIR 2022-5014 "Groundwater-level contour map of Fauquier County, Virginia, October - November 2018." The raster surface has a horizontal grid spacing of 98.43 feet (30 meters). Raster values represent groundwater-level altitude in decimal feet. Horizontal coordinates are referenced to the geographic coordinate system North American...

This dataset is the result of measurements of groundwater levels in the Equus Beds aquifer near Wichita, Kansas, in January 2016. Potentiometric surfaces are interpolated for the shallow and deep parts of the aquifer, and rasters of the potentiometric surfaces are included in this data release. Wells were classified as being screened in the shallow or deep parts of the aquifer based on station name (some wells have a layer identifier in the station name) or, if no indication of aquifer layer was given in the station name, based on the depth of the well; wells with depths less than 80 feet below land surface were classified as shallow and wells with depths of 80 feet or deeper were classified as deep. Contours with...

This data release contains GIS layers and associated metadata in support of a hydrologic assessment of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, New Jersey. Water-table elevation contours and a depth-to-water grid are included. Water levels measured at groundwater and surface-water sites located in and near the refuge as part of a water-level synoptic study conducted primarily during May 2015 were used in the development of both layers, along with other spatial data. Included is one shapefile with associated metadata: ebf_wtelev_spring2015: continuous water-table elevation contours. Also included is one grid file with associated metadata: ebf_dtw_spring2015: depth-to-water grid. This data release supports...

Raster dataset showing saturated thickness (in feet) of the alluvium in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeast Colorado, June 1 - November 30, 2008 (hereafter defined as "fall"). Saturated thickness values based on water levels measured in the study area and median lake level at John Martin Reservoir during this time period. Surface interpolations for water-table altitude were done using Inverse Distance Weighting using coordinate and altitude data from "Wells and water-level altitude in the alluvium in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeast Colorado, Spring and Fall 2002, 2008, and 2015" (see cross reference section in metadata), and surface interpolation of bedrock was done using Topo to Raster using elevation...

Note: this data release has been superseded by version 2.0, available here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9YKWWSZ This dataset contains discrete groundwater elevation measurements for wells in the Cottonwood Lake Study Area, Stutsman County, North Dakota.
This hydrologic and landscape database was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge and contributing watersheds in Florida and Georgia. The database was developed as an assessment and evaluation tool to use in examining refuge-specific hydrologic patterns and trends as related to water availability and water quality for refuge ecosystems, habits, and target species. The database includes hydrologic time series data, statistics on landscape and hydrologic time series data, and hydro-ecological metrics that can be used to assess refuge hydrologic conditions. The database is described in detail in Open File Report 2017-1018.

Geochemical data were obtained to investigate the fate and transport of nitrogen in a subterranean estuary near East Falmouth, Massachusetts. The goal of this investigation was to assess nitrogen attenuation in the aquifer under the Eel River Estuary and the adjacent peninsula that was densely populated with residences having septic systems and legacy cesspool inputs of inorganic nitrogen. This estuary is one of many small embayments on Cape Cod where nutrient enrichment can lead to eutrophication and is a major concern for water-quality impairment. Groundwater water-quality data were collected from 3 transects from a total of 27 locations that were sampled between November 2015 and October 2016. Samples were...

NOTE: This data release has been superseded by a newer version: https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/5b6c8432e4b006a11f7bd01d Hot Creek Gorge contains the most obvious surface expression of the hydrothermal system in Long Valley Caldera, California, discharging 200-300 L/s of thermal water according to USGS measurements made since 1988. Formerly, Hot Creek was a popular public swimming area, but it was closed in 2006 due to unpredictable temperature fluctuations and sporadic geysering of thermal water within the creek (Evans et al., 2018). The USGS has monitored the thermal regime in the area since the mid-1980s, including a series of long-term studies 0.6 km away at well CH-10b. Temperature measurements in...
