We conducted a radio telemetry study of adult western spadefoots (Spea hammondii) at 2 sites in southern California to characterize their survival, behavior, and movements from breeding through aestivation to inform conservation and management for the species. These data support the following publication: Halstead, B.J., Baumberger, K.L., Backlin, A.R., Kleeman, P.M., Wong, M.N., Gallegos, E.A., Rose, J.P., and Fisher, R.N., 2021. This data set is comprised of a potential distribution model for the Grassland Bird Assemblage within the Northwestern Plains Ecoregion. Observations used in maxent were from 1990 - present and during the months of May - September (birds only). The assemblage includes Baird's sparrow, chestnut-collared longspur, McCown's longspur, Sprague's Pipit and one non bird species, swift fox. Observations for swiftfox related to road kill were removed from the observations.The moderate and optimal maxent model threshold for WYNDD was extracted for each species in the assemblage and overlaid to show where multiple species values overlap. 1 = one species, 5 = all 5 species optimal habitat overlapping.

This data was created by using a the wieghted overlay analysis of the KEAs.: Patch Size, MFRI, grassland with 1km, distance to anthrpogenic features, fragmentatino and distanct to other colonies. If the KEA was a binary analysis, the value was completed as a 1 or a 3. The KEAswere then weighted to reduce the importance of some of them and enhance the importance of others. For example, the RRT did not believe that the wildland fire frequency and the protected lands KEAs would provide accurate metrics for this assemblage. As for the order of ranking, for these two KEAs, the RRTindicated that the fire frequency would return a less accurate result than protected lands.

Factors influencing patterns of space use by pygmy rabbits (Brachylagus idahoensis) are poorly understood. We studied diurnal space use by adult pygmy rabbits during multiple breeding and nonbreeding seasons at 3 sites in the Lemhi Valley, Idaho, USA, during 2004–2005. Pygmy rabbits used larger areas than predicted by allometric models and documented by some previous investigations. Sex and season strongly influenced space use by rabbits. Males used larger home ranges and core areas, more burrow systems, and more widely dispersed burrow systems than did female rabbits. This data set is comprised of a variety of anthropogenic layers were combined. Theseincluded exurban, housing density, industrial, agriculture, linear features, and wells. Once this layer wascreated, a moving window analysis with a window size of 1 kilometer (km) was completed to showproportion of the Maxent output within 1 km of human land uses. If greater than 30 percent of the areawithin the moving window was classified as anthropogenic, then those pixels were rated as poor; if lessthan 10 percent of the area within the moving window was classified as anthropogenic, then those pixelswere rated as good.1=good, 2=fair, 3=poor.

This data set was included to represent areas of the Northwestern Plains that have wildland fire frequenciesconducive to BTPD assemblage habitat. The results of this analysis should be used with caution, as thesemetrics are not known to be as accurate for grassland and shrubland systems as they are for forestedsystems. Periodic wildland fire greatly influences the grassland habitat quality. Best professionaljudgment and input from the RRT were used to establish the breakpoints for this metric.1=good, 2=fair, 3 =poor
