North American Industrial Facilities Reporting Pollutant Releases and Transfers, 2005

This data set shows the locations of more than 35,000 industrial facilities in North America that reported releases and (or) transfers of pollutants in 2005. The data were assembled from the three North American countries' Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTRs): the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) in Canada, the Registro de Emisiones y Transferencias de Contaminantes (RETC) in Mexico, and the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) in the United States. Additional information on North American pollutant releases and transfers is available through the Commission for Environmental Cooperation's Taking Stock web site at http://www.cec.org/takingstock/.

Chemical and biological exposure bioassay data from sediment collected within the Grand Calumet River, Indiana, USA

The Grand Calumet River (GCR), located in northern Indiana, is contaminated due to a wide range of historical industrial activities. Short-term and long-term sediment exposure bioassays with the amphipod Hyalella azteca, the midge Chironomus dilutus, and the mussel Lampsilis siliquoidea were conducted with samples collected in 2013, 2015, and 2017, from up to 26 sites, including both remediated, non-remediated and relatively uncontaminated reference sites. The responses (survival, growth, reproduction and/or emergence) of test organisms to the exposure bioassays are presented here.

Lake Erie Ecological Investigations 1980-2000: Reference Tables

The Lake Erie Ecological Investigations (LEEI) dataset contains data collected on contaminants in sediments, benthic invertebrate populations, fish populations and abnormalities, and fish health of primarily brown bullhead in Areas of Concerns (AOCs) on Lake Erie. A subset of the larger dataset, this section specifically handles reference tables, used in database design in order to standardize often used values and to make the data file efficient, for the main tables of the LEEI dataset. The reference tables include: site.csv, site_date.csv, and species.csv.

Mercury source identification in the Mobile and Tombigbee Rivers

This dataset details mercury concentrations and mercury stable isotope values collected as part of an environmental mercury assessment encompassing the Mobile and Tombigbee Rivers as well as two U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Superfund sites. The Tensaw River was also sampled as part of this study as a reference site, absent of mercury contamination. As a part of this survey, sediments, waters, and biota (largemouth bass) were measured to assess mercury transport and bioaccumulation of mercury within the Mobile River Basin. Lake Erie Ecological Investigations 1980-2000: Fish Health Evaluation

This Fish Health Evaluation dataset, a conceptual subgroup of the Lake Erie Ecological Investigations (LEEI) dataset, focuses on the health of fish—primarily brown bullhead—sampled at Areas of Concern (AOCs) on Lake Erie, as measured by anomalies, tumors, biomarkers, and other heath indicators. The focus of the data in the Fish Health dataset is from the 1998-2000 study, which reevaluated fish health in comparison to data from various historical studies also in the dataset. Chemicals of emerging and legacy concern in tissues of white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus) in the Columbia River near Hanford, WA (2009)

This dataset contains concentrations of 25 organochlorine pesticides, 6 industrial or personal care products, 6 polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardant congeners, and 15 polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners in brain, muscle, gonad, and liver tissues of white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus). All concentrations are reported on a wet-weight basis. Fish samples were collected from the Columbia River directly adjacent to and immediately downstream from the Hanford Site in Washington State.
