High-resolution topographic surveys were conducted at two pools on the Carmel River between 2014 and 2019 using a survey-grade total station. The Dam Reach pool (DMPOOL) is located within the Dam Reach, approximately 450 meters downstream of the former site of the San Clemente Dam. The Sleepy Hollow pool (SHPOOL) is located within the Sleepy Hollow reach, approximately 2.25 kilometers downstream of the former site of the San Clemente Dam. Both pools were surveyed in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019 using a total station, in conjunction with the channel cross-section surveys also conducted as part of this study (see accompanying file within this data release for topographic survey transect data). For the 2015 survey,...

This data release supersedes version 1, published in 2017 under https://doi.org/10.5066/F74M93HF. Please see Version_History_P9HG8UDS.txt below for more information. This dataset contains the easting, northing, and elevation values of the river-right and river-left transect endpoint reference benchmarks (RBM and LBM) from survey transects at 10 survey reaches along the Carmel River, central California. Topographic surveys were completed on these transects during eight summer surveys (in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021). See accompanying file within this data release for elevation measurements. All data were collected in NAD83 UTM10N horizontal coordinates and NAVD88 Geoid 12B vertical coordinates,...

This data release supersedes version 1, published in 2017 under https://doi.org/10.5066/F74M93HF. Please see Version_History_P9HG8UDS.txt below for more information. Pebble-count data were collected during summer surveys (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021) at ten sites along the Carmel River, California. Grain-size measurements were made at four to six transects per site using a 0.5 by 0.5 m sampling frame, with approximately 100 sediment-particle counts per transect. Each transect was defined by coordinates on the left and right sides of the river, and sediment grain sizes were measured at five equally spaced locations within the bankfull channel on the transect defined by those endpoint coordinates...
The data release includes part of the bottom-trawl and gill-net survey data collected between 1952 and 1962 from the research vessel R/V Cisco. The bottom-trawl dataset includes tables for fishing operations and effort (BT_OP.csv), fish catch (BT_Catch.csv), and individual length-weight-sex-maturity (LWSM) records (BT_Fish.csv) for only a subset of species (details below). The gill-net dataset includes tables for fishing operations (GN_OP.csv), fishing effort (GN_Effort.csv), fish catch (GN_Catch.csv), and individual LWSM records (GN_Fish.csv) for only a subset of species (details below). Two reference tables, BT_Spec.csv and Species.csv, are used for bottom trawl specifications and fish species names, respectively....

These data were compiled to predict economic impacts to angling in Glen Canyon and whitewater rafting in Grand Canyon. The objective of our study was to estimate recreation impacts, or changes in consumer surplus, under different future Interim Guidelines sEIS and LTEMP sEIS alternatives. These data include monthly impacts in nominal 2022 dollars. These data were created for operations at Glen Canyon Dam for October 2023 through November 2027. These data were created by the U.S. Geological Survey, Southwest Biological Science Center, Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center using mathematical modeling methods.

This dataset contains the physical collection information (e.g., sample location, date, gear type) and microsatellite DNA genotype of egg and larval Lake Sturgeon collected in the St. Clair and Detroit rivers in 2015 and 2016. Individuals were genotyped for 18 microsatellite loci (13 disomic and 5 polysomic). Alleles (base pair sizes) were recorded as presence absence scores (1:present, 2:absent, 0:missing data) for all previously observed alleles. Thus individual genotypes were recorded as pseudo diploid dominant phenotypes resulting in individual vectors of length n=205 for each genotyped egg or larval individual.

This dataset contains morphological information for Ciscoes (Coregonus, subgenus Leucichthys) collected from the Great Lakes as part of the "Great Lakes Cisco Project". The project was initiated in 1950 by Stanford H. Smith, who was a Fishery Research Biologist in the then U.S. Bureau of Commercial Fisheries. The dataset includes 16 morphometrics (linear measurements) and one meristic (count of gill rakers) for Ciscoes, together with biological data (i.e., length, weight, sex, and maturity), sampling location, and date of collection. Consult Koelz (1929) and the "Morphology of Ciscoes" section in Eshenroder et al. (2016) for descriptions of how measurements and counts were made in the then "Ann Arbor Laboratory"...

This data set is associated with an examination of environmental DNA (eDNA) from the invasive round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) in parallel with traditional fish surveys in the Great Lakes. Data resulting from bottom trawling surveys and angler hook and line methods include round goby fish count and biomass at different depths and seasons at multiple sites of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan (trawls), and breakwall locations of Lake Michigan at Portage Lakefront, Portage, Indiana and Washington Park, Michigan City, Indiana (angling). Data from eDNA water samples targeting round goby were analyzed by two molecular methods: droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) and quantitative PCR (qPCR); eDNA copy numbers are presented for...

Inland recreational fisheries, found in lakes, rivers, and other landlocked waters, are important to livelihoods, nutrition, leisure, and other societal ecosystem services worldwide. Although recreationally-caught fish are frequently harvested and consumed by fishers, their contribution to food and nutrition has not been adequately quantified due to lack of data, poor monitoring, and under-reporting, especially in developing countries. Beyond limited global harvest estimates, few have explored species-specific harvest patterns, although this variability has implications for fisheries management and food security. Given the continued growth of the recreational fishery sector, understanding inland recreational fish...

4+ year old cisco (Coregonus artedi) pre-spawn and spawning/near-spawning behavioral data were collected and compiled at the Tunison Laboratory of Aquatic Science in Cortland, NY USA, between August-October 2021 and November-December 2021. Data are comprised of fish reactions in choice flume video data (attractance/avoidance). Cisco were exposed/not exposed to an imprinting chemical (amino acids: alanine, histidine, morpholine, proline, and serine) through early life stages, and later tested based on their treatment to see how individuals reacted to the presence of exposure chemicals during subsequent life stages. These data show how the adult stage cisco of this study ((non exposed (control) and treatment (amino...

Inland lake ecosystems are transforming due to unprecedented effects of climate changes and disturbance along riparian habitat, diminishing their potential to support fisheries. Walleye Sander vitreus, the most sought-after game fish in north-central North America supporting robust recreational and tribal fisheries, have declined. Climate change, harvest, invasive species, and concurrent increases in warm-water species (e.g., Centrarchidae) are implicated in declines. The Resist-Accept-Direct (RAD) framework provides a structure to reconcile managing ecosystem transformations. To examine the utility of intensive resist actions, we conducted an experimental removal of centrarchids in a north temperate lake. We removed...
