This dataset contains results for samples collected at stormwater basins across the United States to assess the potential contaminant pathways of these basins to surface water and groundwater. Sample sites were in stormwater conveyance infrastructure that discharged mixed stormwater runoff from buildings, parking lots, roads, and other infrastructure in residential, commercial, and industrial landscapes prior to surface-water discharge or groundwater infiltration. Stormwater basins draining various types of urban environments, and of various drainage areas, were selected and sampled during storm events. The associated report (Masoner and others, 2019) can be found at https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.est.9b02867. A total...

This digital dataset contains historical geochemical and other information for 100 samples of groundwater from 71 wells located within 3 miles of the Poso Creek Oil Field in Kern County, California. An additional 12 wells in the Poso Creek study area, but co-located within 3 miles of the adjacent Rosedale and Rosedale Ranch Oil Fields, were not included in this data release; these data are planned for a future data release associated with those fields. The sampled wells include water-supply wells used primarily for domestic, irrigation, and industrial uses. Numerical water chemistry data were compiled from two data sources: 1) Kern County Public Health Services Department (KCPHSD) PDF (Portable Document Format)...

This digital dataset contains historical geochemical and other information for 45 samples of produced water from 38 sites in the Placerita and Newhall Oil Fields in Los Angeles County, southern California. Produced water is a term used in the oil industry to describe water that is produced from oil wells as a byproduct along with the oil and gas. The locations from which these historical samples have been collected include 17 wells, 6 storage tanks, and 15 unidentifiable sample sources. Well depth, perforation depths, and (or) depths referred to on geochemistry reports as interval of zone produced, are available for all 17 wells. Designated well use and sample descriptions provide further insight about what the...

In the United States and globally, the lack of data on contaminant exposure from unregulated private-well point-of-use (POU) tapwater (TW) is a recognized public health data gap and an obstacle to risk management and homeowner decision making. Mead, Nebraska, is an agricultural community about 30 miles west of Omaha. To help address the lack of data on broad contaminant exposures in TW sourced from private water wells, a total of 22 samples were collected from 18 private wells during June 2022 and January 2023 and analyzed for 495 organic compounds, 34 inorganic constituents, and 11 microbial groups. The organic compounds included pesticides, pharmaceuticals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), disinfection byproducts...

This digital dataset contains historical geochemical and other information for 89 samples of produced water from 84 sites in the Santa Maria Valley Oil Field in Santa Barbara County, California. Produced water is a term used in the oil industry to describe water that is produced from oil wells as a byproduct along with the oil and gas. Additionally, 3 samples from 3 sites that represent source water used in support of oil production were included in this dataset, for a total of 92 samples and 87 sites, respectively. The locations from which these historical samples have been collected include 27 wells, 2 reservoirs, 10 storage tanks, and 49 unidentifiable sample sources. Well depth, perforation depths, and (or)...

This digital dataset contains geochemical and other information for 1,209 samples of groundwater from 343 wells located within 3-miles of the Buena Vista, Elk Hills, Midway-Sunset, and North and South Coles Levee oil fields in the southwestern San Joaquin Valley of central California. Data were compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from preexisting datasets and transferred manually into two separate data files described as follows: 1) a summary data file identifying each well, it's location, basic well construction, the number of chemistry samples and period of record, and data sources; and 2) a data file of geochemistry analyses for selected water-quality indicators, major and minor ions, nutrients, and...

In the United States and globally, contaminant exposure in unregulated private-well point-of-use (POU) tapwater (TW) is a recognized public health data gap and an obstacle to both risk management and homeowner decision making. To help address the lack of data on broad contaminant exposures in private-well TW from hydrologically vulnerable (alluvial or karst) aquifers in agriculturally intensive landscapes, samples were collected in 2018-2019 from 47 northeast Iowa farms and analyzed for 437 unique organic compounds, 32 inorganic constituents, 5 in vitro bioassays, and 11 microbial assays.

This digital dataset contains historical geochemical and other information for 580 samples of groundwater from 12 wells located within the Placerita and Newhall Oil Fields in Los Angeles County, southern California. The sampled wells include 5 monitoring wells (Dataset IDs 1-5) associated with a groundwater remediation site, 6 water-supply wells (Dataset IDs 6-11) used to supply groundwater in support of oil production, and 1 well (Dataset ID 12) constructed as an observation well to monitor water-disposal operations. The groundwater remediation site wells represent a subset of a much larger number of monitoring wells that were selected for inclusion in this dataset because they were perforated within the regional...
