This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents initial water conditions (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and salinity) during aquarium trials testing the efficacy of carbon dioxide (CO2) to manage invasive fish in anchialine pools.

This data release documents specificity of quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assays to detect environmental DNA (eDNA) from tilapia, western mosquito fish and guppies. These assays provide new tools for resource managers to monitor effectiveness of management efforts to remove invasive fish from anchialine pools in Hawaii and to also survey pools for presence and absence of invasive fish. The lab work was conducted during 2019-2022.

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents the survival of fish or invertebrate exposed to carbon dioxide (CO2) gas treatment during aquarium trials. Aquarium trials were conducted with six taxa: guppies (Poecilia reticulata), western mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis), Mozambique tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus), Opae ula shrimp (Halocaridina rubra), feeble shrimp (Palaemon debilis) and a species of thiarid snail (Thiaridae). These results were part of a larger study aimed to test the efficacy of CO2 as a tool for managing invasive fish in anchialine pools.

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents changes in pH of anchialine pool water before, during and after diffusion of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas. These results are part of a study testing the efficacy of CO2 as tool for eradicating invasive fish from anchialine pools. The trials were conducted at Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park and Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, Hawaii, during 2021-2022.

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents the behavioral response of three species of fish invasive to Hawaii ( tilapia [Oreochromis mosambicus], western mosquitofish [Gambusia affinis] and guppies [Poecilia reticulata]) during aquarium trials testing the efficacy of carbon dioxide (CO2) diffused in water to manage invasive fish in anchialine pools. The work was conducted during 2020.
This is a dataset accompanying the 2017 publication “Assessing the efficacy of corn-based bait containing antimycin-a to control common carp populations using laboratory and pond experiments.” Data are included for the four experiments conducted described in this paper. First, data for a gavage experiment including mortality of carp per tank, fish metrics (lengths and weights), and water quality data (pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature). Second, data are included for the leaching trial including mortality of bluegill and carp, concentrations of antimycin in the tanks, fish metrics, and water quality metrics. Third, data are included for the species-specificity indoor trial. Included in this are mortality and sample...

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents lab and field trials testing the efficacy of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas diffused into water to manage invasive fish in anchialine pools. The data release also includes information documenting sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assays to detect environmental DNA (eDNA) from tilapia (Oreochromis mosambicus), western mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis) and guppies (Poecilia reticulata). In total there are 11 datasets, 9 describing lab trials and 2 describing field trials. Lab data include 1) initial water conditions during pilot study, 2) behavioral response of fish to CO2 during pilot study, 3) survival...

This data release documents results of quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assays to detect environmental DNA (eDNA) from tilapia, western mosquito fish and guppies in pools with known fish populations and in pre and post-treatment samples from pools that were treated with carbon dioxide gas. These assays provide new tools for resource managers to monitor effectiveness of management efforts to remove invasive fish from anchialine pools in Hawaii and to also survey pools for presence and absence of invasive fish. The lab work was conducted during 2019-2022.

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents counts of shrimp and measurements of field variables aimed to identify factors that affect the distribution and abundance of the uncommon anchialine pool shrimp Metabetaeus lohena at Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park during 2017. The data set documents biological, chemical and physical attributes within 173 anchialine pools surveyed during the study.

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents the total body length of Mozambique tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) removed from anchialine pools during field trials testing the efficacy of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas as tool for eradicating invasive fish. Tilapia were removed from a pool at Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, Hawaii during 2021-2022.

To evaluate how bigheaded carps move upstream through and around Starved Rock Lock and Dam (SRLD) on the Illinois River, their movements were monitored using acoustic telemetry. This dataset describes the results of this study and was used to compare the residency duration of upstream migrants downstream of SRLD between years, tailwater elevation, and water temperature, and how tailwater elevation and water temperature influenced their timing of arrival downstream of SRLD. Calculation of passage and residency are available in the thesis of Matthew Lubejko (Southern, Illinois University, 2016).
