In the 2008 Red List assessment, a total of 75 extant and five extinct 'subpopulations' were identified across the natural range of O. nerka. In the 2011 amendment, several of these subpopulations were further subdivided based on additional input from salmon specialists (Pacific Salmon Commission, PSC, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada, DFO), resulting in a total of 98 subpopulations, of which 93 are extant. Maps of priority conservation areas were obtained for DOI and USFS protected lands, state wildlife action plans, SARP regional threat assessment maps, TNC ecoregional portfolios (see map on left), and others. Conservation status was assigned to NHD+ river segments. The Aquatic Conservation Area report to the SALCC documents attempts to designate a single set of priority areas from these resources (see link below). Due to inconsistencies in the objectives and methods used to designate priority areas among states and other groups, the effort was not successful for the SALCC. This dataset compiles land ownership and management data from state and federal agencies to create a map showing ownership, management, and conservation status of all land in Alaska. State, federal, and private lands, including Native corporations and Native allotments, are included. Conservation status describes the degree to which land, particularly public land, is legally designated and explicitly managed for biodiversity conservation. This dataset contains distribution information on species assessed for The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ (hereafter The IUCN Red List) for Amphibians. The maps are developed as part of a comprehensive assessment of global biodiversity in order to highlight taxa threatened with extinction, and thereby promote their conservation.
