These tabular data were compiled to document how key plant trait values change during plant development, particularly seedling stages, and in relation to soil moisture. These data were compiled for an outreach article published in the Boatman's Quarterly Review, which is a magazine published by Grand Canyon River Guides Association. The objectives of our study was to describe the outcomes of the 2018-2020 Bug Flows experiment to a general audience. These data represent 10 years (2012-2021) of invertebrate data and 100 years (1921-2021) of flow data. These data were collected from the Colorado River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Grand Canyon National Park. This table contains Carbon and Nitrogen stable isotope data for Silver Chub (Macrhybopsis storeriana), dreissenid mussels, and Hexagenia spp. mayflies from western Lake Erie in 2014. Samples were collected between May and September 2014 as part of both routine monitoring and a lake-wide coordinated monitoring effort. Silver Chub were collected in trawls; Hexagenia and Dreissenids were captured in benthic samples and taken from Silver Chub diets.

We initiated a project in 2011 to identify lake-wide movement patterns and spawning areas of invasive lake trout in Yellowstone Lake, WY. We implanted acoustic transmitters in lake trout and established a network of stationary telemetry receivers in Yellowstone Lake. Lake Trout tagged with acoustic transmitters (Vemco V - series) were tracked with stationary acoustic receivers (Vemco VR2W - 69 kHz) from 2011 to 2015. The number of active receivers ranged from 17 - 65 as short term goals of the project changed. Coordinates for each detection represent the location of the receiver reading the transmitter. Additionally, detection ranges can vary from apporximately 500 - 1200 meters (but see Vemco.com for more details)....

We tracked Lake Trout and a small number Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout using acoustic telemetry (Vemco VR2W - 69 kHz) receivers and transmitters (Vemco V- series) in Yellowstone Lake from 2011 to 2016. This data set consists of the fish taqgging and recapture information. In total, 470 Lake Trout and 21 Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout were tagged with transmitters. Transmitters were surgically implanted into fish greater 405 mm total length. Fish were captured via line sampleing, anesthetized with Aqui-S, and tagged within a few minutes of capture. This dataset contains the physical collection information (e.g., sample location, date, gear type) and microsatellite DNA genotype of egg and larval Lake Sturgeon collected in the St. Clair and Detroit rivers in 2015 and 2016. Individuals were genotyped for 18 microsatellite loci (13 disomic and 5 polysomic). Alleles (base pair sizes) were recorded as presence absence scores (1:present, 2:absent, 0:missing data) for all previously observed alleles. Thus individual genotypes were recorded as pseudo diploid dominant phenotypes resulting in individual vectors of length n=205 for each genotyped egg or larval individual.

We collected eggs from female Lake Trout during the fall of 2015 to assess the relationship between female Lake Trout size and the number of eggs produced by individual fish. All data were collected between 7 September and 8 October, 2015. We collected 325 Lake Trout, however, only 44 were females that had eggs held together in a skein. We found a positive correlation between female Lake trout size (length and weight) and the number of eggs produced per female.

This dataset contains morphometric information from Burmese pythons collected from an invasive population in southern Florida between 1995-2021. Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey and the National Park Service curated this dataset as a repository for records of Burmese pythons found on or nearby federal lands in southern Florida, including Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, Biscayne National Park, and Crocodile Lake National Wildlife Refuge. This habitat model was developed to delineate suitable habitat for coastal cactus wren (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus) in southern California. A primary purpose of the model is to identify potential restoration sites that may not currently support cactus patches required by wrens, but which are otherwise highly suitable. These are areas that could be planted with cactus to increase wren populations, an important management objective for many land managers. We used the Partitioned Mahalanobis D2 modeling technique to construct alternative models with different combinations of environmental variables. This habitat model was developed to delineate a sampling frame for regional monitoring of coastal California gnatcatchers (Polioptila californica californica) to determine: 1) percent area occupied (PAO) in high and very high suitability habitat across conserved lands and participating military lands in the U.S. range in southern California; 2) changes in PAO over time; and 3) extinction and colonization rates. One purpose of the model is to identify areas recovering from disturbance, such as wildfire, that may not currently support coastal sage scrub vegetation used by coastal California gnatcatchers, but are otherwise highly suitable. This habitat model was developed to identify suitable habitat for the federally-endangered least Bell’s vireo (Vireo bellii pusillus) across its current and historic range in California. The vireo disappeared from most of its range by the 1980s, remaining only in small populations in southern California. Habitat protection and management since the mid-1980s has led to an increase in southern California vireo populations with small numbers of birds recently expanding into the historic range. We investigated the behavioral response of female Pacific lamprey to three odors and to differences in water flow. Adult lamprey were challenged with: 1) washings from conspecifics, 2) with washings from adult males, and 3) with an artificial odor that mimicked a component of a natural lamprey pheromone. In addition, we conducted parallel tests to check for rheotaxis. The fish were tested in two Y-mazes where they were exposed to an odor and a control (no odor). The fish were pit-tagged and monitored with four antennas. During overnight tests we counted the number of entries into each arm of the maze and the amount of time spent in each arm.
