The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has compiled a geodatabase containing mineral-related geospatial data for 19 countries of interest in the Indo-Pacific region (area of study): Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Burma, Fiji, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Korea (Republic of Korea), Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. The data can be used in analyses of the extractive fuel and nonfuel mineral industries integral for the successful operation of the mineral industries within the area of study. Effects of acid-base chemistry on biology of lakes and streams in the Adirondack Mountains

BACKGROUND Watersheds of the Adirondack Mountains receive high levels of acid deposition resulting from atmospheric emissions of nitrogen and sulfur oxides. Acidic deposition has been shown to reduce acid neutralizing capacity (ANC) and calcium (Ca) concentrations, and increase acidity and aluminum (Al) concentrations in soils and surface waters, and affect forest health as well as fish and macroinvertebrate assemblages across the region. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is currently developing secondary standards for nitrogen and sulfur emissions that will indirectly protect terrestrial and aquatic species and their communities from further adverse impacts and promote recovery of acidified ecosystems...

Sediment chemistry data from sediment traps deployed in the San Juan River watershed, 2021-2022, Four Corners USA

Sediment traps were deployed in thirty-three ephemeral and perennial tributaries to the San Juan River during 2021 and 2022. This dataset includes the chemical concentrations of the sediment samples collected in sediment traps during storm events. These traps collected sediment during storm events that typically occur as monsoonal convective storms from June to September. Because of the rural nature of the watershed, sediment traps were collected every 3 weeks so the sediment collected is a composite of that time period. Digital Data from a Previously Published Tectonic Map of the Colorado Plateau

This digital dataset release of the Tectonic Map of the Colorado Plateau is a courtesy publication of the previously published legacy report by V.C. Kelley in 1955. The original publication, "Tectonic Map of the Colorado Plateau Showing Uranium Deposits" contains elevation contours from the top of the Chinle formation in 1000 ft intervals and geologic structural formations such as monoclinal, synclinal, and anticlinal structures. This imagery dataset consists of 3-meter resolution, lidar-derived imagery of the Lewisburg 30 x 60 minute quadrangle in Virginia and West Virginia. The source data used to construct this imagery consists of 1-meter resolution lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs). The lidar source data were compiled from different acquisitions published between 2020 and 2021. The data were processed using geographic information systems (GIS) software. The data is projected in WGS 1984 Web Mercator. This representation illustrates the terrain as a hillshade with contrast adjusted to highlight local relief according to a topographic position index (TPI) calculation.
