In 1975 Idaho Geological Survey, then named Idaho Bureau of Mines and Geology, began compiling annual summaries for use by U.S. Bureau of Mines and U.S. Geological Survey annual reports after dissolution of the office of the Idaho State Inspector of Mines in 1974. Maps were used for a wide range of projects; therefore type and quantity of data on each map varies considerably. Maps contain spatial data (locations of mines, springs, wells, outcrops, sinkholes, and other features), as well as field notes, measured and cross sections, detail sketches, material properties, and other geologic data.
