These data are high-resolution bathymetry (lake bottom elevation) in a gridded XYZ format, generated from hydrographic surveys of Morse and Geist Reservoirs in April and May of 2016. Hydrographic data were collected using a multibeam echo-sounder (MBES) with integrated inertial navigation solution (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the lake along survey lines distributed throughout the area. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the multibeam sonar and the horizontal and vertical position and attitude data of the vessel from the INS in real time. In the shallow areas, additional data were collected with an acoustic Doppler current profiler...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. The elevation contour data was created based on bathymetry obtained in the meander reach collected in about a one month period extending from 6/3/2010 - 6/19/2010. This subset data extends from river kilometer designator 228 upstream to 237. Similar methods used to collect and process the bathymetry are described in Fosness (2013). The contours were created from a surface raster (also referred to as digital elevation model) of the...

This part of DS 781 presents data for the bathymetry map of the Offshore of Monterey map area, California. Bathymetry data are provided as separate grids depending on resolution. This metadata file refers to the data included in "BathymetryHS_2m_OffshoreMonterey.zip," which is accessible from https://doi.org/10.5066/F70Z71C8. These data accompany the pamphlet and map sheets of Johnson, S.Y., Dartnell, P., Hartwell, S.R., Cochrane, G.R., Golden, N.E., Watt, J.T., Davenport, C.W., Kvitek, R.G., Erdey, M.D., Krigsman, L.M., Sliter, R.W., and Maier, K.L. These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) in compressed LAS (*.laz) format, generated from the July 17–19, 2023, hydrographic survey of Bubbly Creek and various sidings, harbors, and turning basins on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal (CS&SC) in Cook County, Illinois. The survey includes all Bubbly Creek from the confluence with the CS&SC in the north to the Racine Avenue Pump station in the south; various sidings and turning basins along the CS&SC between Kedzie Avenue and South Halsted Street; and the Marine Safety Station harbor near the Chicago Harbor Lock on Lake Michigan. This survey is a continuation and enhancement of the bathymetric survey of the CS&SC in Cook County, Illinois, conducted...

Water supply lakes are the primary source of water for many communities in northern and western Missouri. Therefore, accurate and up-to-date estimates of lake capacity are important for managing and predicting adequate water supply. Many of the water supply lakes in Missouri were previously surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey in the early 2000s (Richards, 2013) and in 2013 (Huizinga, 2014); however, years of potential sedimentation may have resulted in reduced water storage capacity. Periodic bathymetric surveys are useful to update the area/capacity table and to determine changes in the bathymetric surface. Holden City Lake is a water supply lake used by the city of Holden in west-central Missouri. The surface...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) and depth-averaged velocities in comma-delimited table format, generated from hydrographic and velocimetric surveys near highway bridge structures over the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers near St. Louis, Missouri, August 3–10, 2020. Hydrographic data were collected using a high-resolution multibeam echosounder mapping system (MBMS), which consists of a multibeam echosounder (MBES) and an inertial navigation system (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the river along planned survey lines distributed throughout the reach. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the MBES and the...

Sugar Creek Lake is located approximately 4 miles northwest of Moberly, Missouri, in Randolph County, and has a full-pool surface area of approximately 330 acres. The lake primarily is used for recreation and drinking-water supply for the town of Moberly, Missouri. An earthen dam approximately 38-feet high and 1,125-feet long was constructed across the Sugar Creek valley in 1922. The elevation of the top of the dam is approximately 754 feet, with a 90-feet wide concrete spillway located near the right bank (west end) at an elevation of 746.8 feet. A previous bathymetric survey was completed in 2003. In cooperation with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Geological Survey resurveyed the bathymetry...
