These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. Hydrographic survey data were collected from May 22 through June 10, 2015, using an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) coupled with an RTK-GNSS rover. The collected hydrographic data consisted of three elements—riverbed elevations derived from bathymetry, depth-averaged streamflow velocity, and instantaneous discharge measurements. Hydrographic data were collected as the boat moved across the river at planned cross sections...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. The substrate enhancement pilot project (SEPP) extent GIS layer represents an area where an artificial substrate will be placed. The artificial substrate, consisting of a mixed size class of gravel, is aimed at providing a more suitable substrate for sturgeon eggs and early-life rearing habitat. The location of the SEPP extent was created by analyzing the egg-mat network, bathymetric features, surficial sediment facies, and streamflow...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) and depth-averaged velocities in ASCII format, generated from hydrographic and velocimetric surveys of the Missouri River near structure A3047 on U.S. Highway 67 near St. Louis, Missouri, in 2010, 2011, and 2016. Hydrographic data were collected using a high-resolution multibeam echosounder mapping system (MBMS), which consists of a multibeam echosounder (MBES) and an inertial navigation system (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the river along planned survey lines distributed throughout the reach. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the MBES and the horizontal and vertical...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) in ASCII XYZ format, generated from the July 15, 2011, hydrographic and velocimetric survey of the Missouri River near structure 92-52-18.48(026) on Missouri/Kansas State Highway 92 at Leavenworth, Kansas, during summer flooding on the Missouri River. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from...

Integrated terrain models covering 16,357 square kilometers of the Massachusetts coastal zone and offshore waters were built to provide a continuous elevation and bathymetry terrain model for ocean planning purposes. The area is divided into the following four geographical areas to reduce file size and facilitate publishing: Massachusetts Bay from the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border south to Provincetown and Scituate and east to Stellwagen Bank; Cape Cod Bay from Provincetown to Scituate and south to Hyannis; Buzzards Bay from the Cape Cod Canal southwest to the State border including the Elizabeth Islands and extending north to Fall River and Mount Hope Bay; and Nantucket and Vineyard Sounds, from Hyannis south...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) in ASCII XYZ format, generated from the June 1, 2017, hydrographic survey of the Gasconade River near structure A4735 on Missouri State Highway 100 at Gasconade, Missouri, to help identify possible effects from extreme flooding on May 1-2, 2017. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the...

These data are from a 1998 multibeam survey of the sea floor southwest of Montauk Point, New York. There are five datasets: bathymetry grid, shaded-relief image, backscatter intensity image, shaded-relief colored by backscatter intensity image, and trackline navigation. The bathymetry shows the shape of the sea floor. Of particular interest are the size, shape, and orientation of bed forms that may indicate sediment movement. The shaded-relief image provides a visualization of the bathymetry that accentuates small features that cannot be effectively shown as contours alone. The image of backscatter intensity provides qualitative information on the sediment texture and roughness of the sea floor. The image of shaded-relief...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) and depth-averaged velocities in ASCII format, generated from hydrographic and velocimetric surveys of the Mississippi River near structure A1500 on Interstate 55 in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2010 and 2016. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the MBES and the horizontal and vertical position...

Surveys of the bathymetry and backscatter intensity of the sea floor south of Long Island, New York, were carried out in November 1998 using a Simrad EM1000 multibeam echosounder mounted on the Canadian Coast Guard ship Frederick G. Creed. The purpose of the multibeam echosounder surveys was to explore the bathymetry and backscatter intensity of the sea floor in several areas off the southern coast of Long Island along the 20-meter isobath. Survey areas offshore of Fire Island Inlet, Moriches Inlet, Shinnecock Inlet, and southwest of Montauk Point were about 1 kilometer (km) wide and 10 km long. The area was mapped by the U.S. Geological Survey with support from the Canadian Hydrographic Service and the University...

Hydrographic data were collected using a high-resolution multibeam echosounder mapping system (MBMS), which consists of a multibeam echosounder (MBES) and an inertial navigation system (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Acoustic doppler current profiling (ADCP) data was collected to describe streamflow characteristics including total streamflow, velocity magnitude and secondary flow structure, and backscatter intensity at 29 cross-sections at the Myrtle Creek Bend on the Kootenai River on June 3, 2013. Each of the 29 cross-sections consisted of 4 transects or bank-to-bank coverage to obtain a representative velocity pattern. The mean daily streamflow...

In 2020, the Alaska Science Center and the Idaho Water Science Center conducted bathymetric surveys at three highway bridge structures. The bridge structures (NBI 331 and 1187) at Flag Point near Cordova, AK are located on Alaska State Route 10 (commonly referred to as the Copper River Highway). Bridge structure NBI 539 on the Knik River is located on the Old Glenn Hwy near Butte, AK. These bathymetry data generally include complete coverage for upstream and downstream channels, except for extreme shallow areas along banks, where structures limited boat access, or where data was removed during post-processing. Bridges 1187, 331, and 539 are scour-critical bridges, and 1187 and 539 are part of the Alaska Science...
