This collection (known internally at Maryland Geological Survey as Component 8) consists of 211 infrared, 9 in. by 9 in. aerial photographs (211 unique frames) flown on a 7.5-minute U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) quadrangle basis. The photographs date from 1988-1989 and were flown or otherwise acquired by the USGS National Aerial Photograph Program (NAPP). The Maryland counties covered by these photographs include Allegany, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Kent, Prince George’s, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, St. Mary’s, Talbot, Washington, and Worcester Counties. The scale of these photographs is not printed on the photographs; however, Maryland Geological Survey (MGS) calculates the scale to be approximately...
Seismic Refraction Surveys are digital and non-digital seismic refraction data, data analyses, and reports.
This collection contains sites with vertical seismic profile data, including shear wave and P-wave components. The sites are located primarily in the New Madrid Seismic Zone in western Kentucky and surrounding states.
Unwashed well cuttings from oil and gas wells in Alabama. Unwashed well cuttings from an unknown number of oil and gas wells in Alabama.
Collection contains original copies of geophysical well logs and records from 14210 wells drilled for uranium exploration and evaluation in New Mexico. Most of these are one-of-a-kind and not available elswhere. The collection has been 90% catalogged. A listing is available upon request.
location plats, completion reports and driller's logs for oil and gas wells drilled within West Virginina. Approximately 25,000 of the early, pre-regulation wells only have location plats physical logs are filled in 21 legal-sized filing cabinets
The oil and gas well cuttings collection consists of splits of cuttings from oil and gas wells. Most of the samples consist of small splits in small envelopes
This collection primarily contains economic geologic information on mines in Mohave County, but also includes more general files on other states and mineral commodities. William Crutchfield, Jr. earned his master's degree from The University of California in 1953. He began working for Santa Fe Mining, Inc. in California in the 1960s as a Mining Engineer and later as Exploration Manager. He stayed with the company until the 1980s.
Guy Atlee lived and worked in the Kingman area working the Turquoise mine (Mineral Park) and other mines near Chloride (IXL, Wrigley), Cerbat, and Kingman. He is known to have worked and traveled in the Victorville, Topock and other areas of California. Guy’s wife was Rose Atlee and they had a large family. The collection includes images of mines and workings as well as many images depicting daily life in Mohave County. The photos appear to cover a period from about the turn of the century through the 1920s.
Environmental geology reports are generalized and simplified versions of surficial and bedrock geology at an approxmate scale of 1:50,000, prepared for planning and other interests. Conditions are determined chiefly on the basis of surficial materials and include the following maps: •surficial (glacial and recent) deposits •bedrock (except for Environmental Geology #1) •groundwater potential •solid waste disposal conditions •septic tank (sewage disposal) conditions •general construction conditions •sand and gravel reserves
Field notebooks belonging to retired PaGS geologist Rodger Faill. Five done by Michelle Bell under Faill's direction on Piedmont summer-fall 1992. Five on jack's mtn., triassic basin, general field trips 1965-1972 by Faill. Five done by Dave Valentino under Faill's direction for MA thesis on Piedmont 1987-1989. Three general/deformed fossils notebooks by Faill.various locations and dates. Belong to Rodger FaillThe oldest field notebooks from 1965-1972 are in worse shape having experienced some water damage from the 1972 Agnes flood. Some pages are faded and difficult to read.
The collection of hand samples was obtained from projects of the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA) related to the construction of water and sewer lines, throughout mainly the eastern part of the state. The collection consists of 525 hand samples from which thin sections (525) were made; in addition, there are 21 boxes containing approximately 2 pound, hand samples from work on the Cosgrove Tunnel Project. The samples were collected by Father James Skehan and each chunk of rock has an identifier painted on it, referring to the station location. The thin sections and the hand samples are stored in cardboard boxes, on pallets, at the Record Center, on Deer Island in Boston Harbor. The condition of the collection...

Consists of approximately 150,000 samples in total, most arranged by time period: Cambrian (1500), Ordovician (15,000), Silurian (17,000), Devonian (10,000), Mississippian (15,000), Pennsylvanian (77,000), and Tertiary/Cretaceous (100). Approximately 10,500 specimens are arranged by taxonomic group including brachiopods (7500), cephalopods (1000), and trilobites (2000).

The SDF or Stratigraphic Data Files are a collection of paper drill records from thoughout Pennyslvania organized by 7.5 minute quadrangle. It is a prime source of subsurface lithology. Portions have been entered into the USGS NCRDS database. This is a Topo/geo resource which does not belong to any one staff member. The last estimate of the collection was 31,500 done is 1987. A better estimate is currently underway. The main use for the collection is in-house reference and research by PaGS staff.
Collection of reports containing from one to up to several hundred pages and water well files related to the MX Missile Project of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The collection is in 2 4-drawer filing cabinets. The geologic/hydrologic reports are kept at the NBMG, and some years ago, the cultural reports were sent to the Nevada Historical Society. The "Amount" is based on the number of reports and files listed on a typed index that may need revision. MX Files The area covered by the project is part of eastern and central Nevada. The collection is indexed by a typed list of reports and files in a binder, which needs to be reviewed against what is in the collection. The collection may be considered to become part...
Digital data base containing coal analyses for coal beds in West Virginia. Coal quality data base
These reports describe in detail the history of individual oil & gas wells, including daily drilling activity, information on cores, showss amd drill-stem tests, and completion and production information. Well history reports - multiple page reports detailing drilling, testing, and completion work on oil & gas wells. This information should be scanned into a digital format that contains searchable data fields/metadata.
A collection of digital in-hole, vertical seismic data (in standard SEG-Y format) and paper records of field observations.
This collection contains coalbed methane desorption data on 31 coalbed methane test wells drilled in new Mexico. There are 589 pages of information. We would like to prepare a digital catalog of this infomartion and link that catalog to scanned images of the reports in order to increase/maximize utility.
